Hang on!!!

So these innocuous 'warning signs' are actually recording data as well?

Anything else they're not telling us???

That's a bloody good point Nelly. No doubt the data will be used against the motorist sometime soon.

real challenge getting up to that speed on that road (!) Sounds like the story is made up or the sign giving false readings ....

I use that road regularly, today in-fact. You'd have real trouble getting to 90mph let alone + 150mph. The sign is on the downward hill but less than halfway down, so whoever managed it must've got to nearing 200mph or more towards the bottom thumbup hehe

Sounds like bks to me

These are the signs that flash up the speed you are doing. Made up story by the residents I'd suggest as no description of the car, nor pic.

I thought these were getting withdrawn for the ones that flashed the speed limit as they encouraged some people to see what speed they could get through them.

It sounds a little unbelievable. I thought the speed indicators failed to display the speed read-out after 20 or so mph over the posted sign. I’m with Byker28i.
If it is true, it's not something they could have done during the day. It's just far too busy and a few schools as well.

Could be something in the phrase "...the cars were recorded by a warning sign..."

I hope it's made up, but the pessimistic side of me says it isn't!

Yeah, I know that road too and there's no way anyone could reach those speeds! I'm sure this'll now lead to a ban of all high performance cars in built-up areas based on a warning sign's dodgy sensor!

More likely somebody has figured out you can set them off by whirling a radar reflector round on a bit of string.

More than sounds like.... it IS bcensoreds - complete and utter nonsense written by some freelance journo trying to sell a story for the price of a pint is my guess.

yes

A wom,an in Wales got accused of doing 410mph in her Montego a few years back, they're not immune from the odd error!

That said if there's any chance it's genuine I think they're insane. I think 9 times out of 10, 30mph limits are worth adhering to, whatever speed you get up to on the NSL there after.

If the signs that simply flash 'Slow Down' (without even a 'please') are actually recording something then it's a question for the SPL forum I think, for clarification - otherwise what you have are stealth speed cameras.
