Hi all

I recently purchased some professional camera mounting equipment from Hague Camera Spports. I purchased the suction mount SM1, very impressed good product.
The problem was a new top of the range HDD jvc cam-corder. It records all to the hard drive. Once the car was running the cam-corder would switch itself off due to the nature of the vibration. When I got home I shaked the cam-corder quite violently in my hands and the thing kept recording but once mounted to the suction mount on the inside rear window and the car running the cam-corder would turn itself off. The shop were I purchased it kindly gave me a full refund.

Since then I have spoken to various cam-corder manufacturers & their technical departments but no one person has advised me of a camera suitable.
I have looked at various Bullet Cameras for track days but not too impressed with quality off filming.
Some shops have advised the mini tape version which is obviously old tech now.

Can anyone please advise me on what cam-corders you are using and is the quality off picture and sound up to a high standard.

Thanking you all in advance.

I'm not any expert but some of the guys in this thread seem to be http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a... . There is a High Def camera listed for about £400. Memory cards seem to be the way to go, or tape.

Dunno how high-end you wanna go but I'm using a Sony DCR HC96; which I guess is relatively low-end. This uses the mini DV format and though it may not be de-rigueur, the format isn't as susceptible to vibration as the latest offerings which is why it's recommended for motorsport. It also gives as good results. As for bulletcams (and recording format), have a word with Mark at 'dogcamsports'; he'll sort you out.

Just a note, to use an external camera ie a bullet cam you'll need "AV in" most new camcorders don't seem to have this function....

I use a Sony HC96 & a Dogcam pro.
Very happy with the results, although the wiring/ connection leads can be a bit confusing when you haven't used it for a while...

hope that helps

Know Mr simbad,

Just to let you know I have booked half day at track I mentioned, Jeff is coming with his 850ci BMW. We need to be 98db, £60.00 for half day.

Perhaps you would like to join me mate and then I can show your 5.3 Litre & Jeff's 850 what my lead boots and my T350c can do.

I trust you will have your silencers next week, if you accept challenge!
Come on son you know it makes sense. With the help of these guys replies hopefully we can all have some footage of what my lead boots can do!
