Depends if you ain't going to drive it frequently i.e a couple of time a week? Or if your going to leave it for more that a couple of weeks without use.

If you think that there's a possibility that there will be a period of time when the car won't be used, that is long enough to flatten (ruin, in my case) the battery, then I'd say it's well worth it. This will turn out to be cheaper and less frustrating/angry and inconvenient. Believe me, in this instance prevention is far better than the cure. HTH

It's a conditioner, not a trickle charger.

I've got two of these chargers, one as posted and an Optimate, for the Tiv and an MG. Park up in the garage, plug in the charger and forget it, alarmed or not. Months, or almost anytime later you want to use the car it will start (unless something else has gone wrong I suppose). Both cars don't have the easiest batteries to get at so 100% good idea. Kim.

Both mine are on them, I keep meaning to get one for the bike too. I got on OK with a solar charger with my last cerb, but they're not very effective.

I recently bought an Accumate from these people (cheapest I could find):-

http://www.mdsbattery.co.uk/departments/department...

I also bought the wall bracket, extension lead & cigarette lighter adaptor, so I just leave it plugged in with the window down a few mm so that the wire doesn't get pinched.

I've got a trickle charger which plugs into the cigarette lighter for my Griff. I probably only drive it once every two or three weeks so I deemed it a necessary piece of kit - which it is!

One tip though. If you do buy one, remember to unplug it before your drive off! Trust me when I say that it has the potential, when the wire becomes tight, to remove itself from the cigarette charger and hit you in the face very hard! smile

Which trickle charger do you have/ can you get that plug into the cig lighter?

Am also thinking of getting one but would rather not have to go via the battery compartment.. cig lighter seams the way to go..

Yes Accumate do one for cig lighters, which is what I've got. A most excellent product. The cig lighter needs to work when the ignition's not on - which it does on Griffs.

Ok- will check that, mines a '95 chim, but I've only had it a couple of weeks so don't actually know whether the cig lighter is live without the ignition on... (or - come to think of it- it works at all?)

If it's standard, it's live without ignition on.
