I have a corrosion problem that needs sorting (body off, strip, sandblast, weld in new sections as necessary, repaint). Any recommended places in Essex/Surrey/Hampshire/Dorset? (easiest places for me to get to!)

Current quote £6.5k

cheers!

If they still made them maybe! Most of that though is labour charges in getting the body off and back on again

I believe that you can get new chassis, they are being made by the company that now supplies the spares, who's name eludes me! Aghh.

They make to order apparently, and in-house.

I think you'll find that they won't supply to the public. The figures that were being banded around for a Cerb' chassis was around the £3K mark.

If it is outriggers then Offords do them for around £250 each with the body on and just lifted 6 inches

Its a bit further i.e St Neots but they do have curtesy cars

That seems a pretty good price - how much disconnection is involved to raise the body 6 inches? Is it easily done in the garage at home?

Sorry, dont want to get you off topic boxedin

They won't be raising the body at all for that sort of price, it's too much labour. There is a method for welding them from below by using a V shaped tube with the body still in situ which they probably use.

£6.5k - Either they don't want the work or they're thieving bastaads who ever they are....£6.5K FFS.

True, I'd quite my job and do it for that price.

Currently doing the above to the Tasmin Race Car.

6.5k is a lot of money but I don't necessarily think it's a rip off.

To remove the body (inc various interior trim, release seized/inaccessible nuts, hydraulic, electrics) and store;
strip chassis - engine, gearbox, suspension, drivertrain removed;
clean, de-rust and repair chassis, repaint;
reassemble using (I would hope) new hardware, possibly cables/connectors/pipes and hoses;
refit body/trim/electrics.

Think of the man-hours, storage and overheads!

Could easily be 50-60 hours at £50ph. Then materials, vat...I don't think 6.5k's cheap, but I'd question the thoroughness of somebody doing it professionally for very much less.

Does anyone know of anywhere in the Northeast that does this kind of work for a reasonable fee? Unfortunately, my outriggers have seen better days and there's no way I'd be spending £6.5k.
