Currently insured with A Mannings and insurance up for renewal soon.

My TVR is my only car, used daily and it is not always garaged.

I have been phoning through various specialist companies mentioned in other threads and TVRCC mag etc, but the majority of them either: will only insure if it is a 2nd car, is on a limited mileage or if it is garaged or all of the above! - I am yet to find a company (even if i did buy another car to use) that would insure me limited mileage unless I have a garage to keep my car in.

The lack of garage means i may be paying 25%+ more than if i had a garage! - But no easy fix for that now...

So, If anyone is in a similar situation, I would be interested to hear who you are insured with.

So far (other than a few non specialists quoting £000's) I have only found A Mannings and A Plan who I can get insurance with for a 'reasonable' amount.

Any suggestions from people that know companies that will insure to above situation gratefully received beer

Last year I was insured with Adrian Flux as my only car, ungaraged with unlimited miles. - Was a reasonable price as well

Just been up for renewal and had some decent quotes from some non-specialists incl. Elephant and Admiral.

I know some on here dislike the non-specialists, but it is worth a quote and it is a personal choice.

I was insured by Direct Line and only changed 'cos I did have two cars (only the TVR now) and they would insure them with the same NCB as I was the only driver of both.

My TVR was hit by a 3rd party in my drive who admitted liability. Direct Line dealt with the whole process no problem so I'd try them.

PS mine is not garaged and unlimited miles.
PPS There is a horror story thread about the activities of the 'Nautical insurer' mentioned above running right now.

I used to be in central London, on the street, only car, no garage, 28 yr old (bit older frown ), work for a brewery and did 12k a year plus . ..

It wasn't pretty but a grand a year with Privilege with full no claim bonus and unlimited mileage.

Can't find anyone better than Privilege as all of my TVR's have been on unlimited mileage although recently Privilege have started asking for mileages and adjusting accordingly . .

I'm now with direct line. They insured me no problems. TVR Cerb only car, daily drive, including commuting. About £480 a year, I think it was.

Seems reasonable to me, was cheaper than Manning's quote anyway.

biggrin

I think the insurers have noted that the drive to work normally entails me having to dodge bullets as I pass Smethwick & Handsworth laugh

I am also insured with A Flux, who actually matched and then beat an internet quote from one of the non-specialists. They generally seem to know what they are talking about with respect to the car.

Admiral were far and away the cheapest for me, parked on the road overnight (other either said it MUST be garaged or doubled the premium if it wasnt)

Admiral were about 60-70% cheaper than the next best quote and that included A Manning, Adrian Flux and other "specialists"

I use Direct Line and they havent been beaten on price yet. I've just done a comparison today with A plan and they can't beat them. Car left on drive.

I phoned around all the companies listed above and ended up going with A-Plan who were £75 cheaper than A Mannnings who were the next best price.

Both policies as far as i can tell offer identical cover except Mannings policy covers you for track days. As i don't plan on doing any track days in my TVR i went for the £75 saving, otherwise i would have gone with Mannings and Allianz policy who were great to use last year (i had to make a non fault claim).

Many of the companies i called were over £300 more expensive than A-Plan and Mannings.

Had one company who initially looked good - but was a £600 excess!!

Definitely worth a phone around as there was a lot of variation!
