Arrggh, am I just going mad?

I have been reading the chats on petrol to use and have been chopping and changing between Optimax and normal Super Unleaded as an experiment on me Griff 500....(Definately more sluggish on the normal unleaded). So I've been paying attention to the RON on the pumps....

My local ESSO had 97 RON for their Super Unleaded... then went to fill up the other day and the sticker says 98 RON!!! Am I going made, or has it really changed, did I just use a different pump where they have changed the sticker. Or blah de blah? Or maybe I've slipper into a parallel universe where all supers are the same

Or are they just matching the Shell 98.??? in optimax?

Esso Super Unleaded USED to be 98ron, then a while back it went to 97ron and the buggers said nothing. Obviously pressure from Shell Optimax has made them change their minds again. To55ers!

Also I think BP Super UL is 98 ron?

I filled up in a BP on the way to Mania and it was 98 RON. I was a bit confused by this as I also thought Optimax was the only one!

The pump I used was labelled "Super PLUS Uleaded" not sure if its always said that or if the PLUS bit it the extra octane they have added.

Podie, was that BP or Esso and if it was esso did it say "Super PLUS Uleaded" or just "Super Uleaded".

I I end up down halford again today, I'll check it out in the esso as I walk past!

I was at Silverstone at the PCGB Track Day there. We were warned that if we went to fill up at the circuit pumps we should be very careful to use ordinary petrol - not race fuel.

£250 to fill the tank apparently...

Having said that - I'll bet it the car runs nicely. For a while...

Esso fuel update.....

Went to an Esso in Maidenhead yesterday to fill up....

"Super PLUS Unleaded" on the label followed by 97. Mmmm interesting, maybe I should compare the prices!

So the same brand of petrol appears to vary depending where you buy it!

Esso on Ascot High Street has their Super at 97 when I fed Ruby yesterday. But there is a Shell station around the corner from my new digs .....

How much you can you read into a name? Eventually it will be 'Super Plus Digital DeLuxe Gold Extra Premium' - maybe best to go by the RON rating not the spin.

I'm sure its the other way round for me...

Esso Slough (Burnham A4) vs Shell A4 BMW Garage, my normal two fill up points.

Mmm, about 5 miles apart (just enough to empty a tank )
