Well we have just spent 4 days wragging the nads off our cars in an area known for its sheep. Generally in the silly buggers group we had my Tamora, a 4.5 Cerb, a vary tweaked Griff and a 997 911 Turbo.

The tamora is reasonably new to me but even in the wet it felt amazing and i was pushing it, the porsche was all over me.

In a straight line through first, second, third the Tam and porsche we about equal, when I changed to forth he was gone!

On a drag myself and the Griff headed off, again shortly caught by Cerb and Porsche going like a train and would have easily wizzed past us.

We also had Tuscan S's, Tuscans, Maserati's, Chimps etc in our group and no one could touch it, fantastic bit of kit.

biggrin we did have a cerb and plenty of balls but that turbo was amazingly quick between 100 and 160,(kph of course).kept with it on the twisties even in the wet up to 120 but the cerb was the only car that could stay near above 120,so if you bare in mind £100k car, traction control,4 wheel drive, abs, ceramic brakes, (brake & wheel package on the porker worth more than my whole griff)then i am over the moon with the performance of our tvr's,especially the 4.5 cerb, awesome cars for the money!!!

some humble thoughts from the porsche and other supercars overcrowded switzerland:
- with today's stand of automobile technology and mass production capacity (eg porsche, strong bm's, etc.), it's no only about pure performance anymore, but exclusivity that may count.. and with any tvr it's granted!
sorry these thoughts may apply more to the continent (less tiv's around), as to the land of some finest exclusive car makers, dont'they?
Cheers,
C14

Drove my mates new turbo few weeks back, phuck, it is fast, really fast with no let up on every gearchange. Drove his C4S before that and it did nothing for me at all, but the Turbo is different and I was impressed. I'm no fan of Porsche but it does deserve respect. I love TVR but, whilst they are pretty quick, they ain't the fastest out there.

c4s is dog slow compared to the Turbo, no idea of the numbers off the top of my head but my Tuscan leaves a c4s for dead but can barely keep up with a turbo, past 100 its just not worth trying!

ETA courtesy of porsche website..

Performance
911 Carrera 4S Coupé 911 Turbo Coupé

Top Speed
288 km/h 310 km/h (193 mph)

Acceleration from 0 - 100 km/h (0 - 62 mph)
4.8 s 3.7 s

Engine
3.8l 355bhp 3.6l 480bhp!!!!!!!! yikes

Torque
400 Nm 620 Nm (Overboost: 680 Nm) <<< LOTS AND LOTS

As awesome as they are I still dont think I would spend £100k on one, I'd rather have 2 or 3 cars for a bit of variety.

This will give you an example on how fast the Turbo is,up against the 505bhp Z06.So dont be too down, that you couldnt get near him in the Tuscan.I strongly feel, that the rolls will be reversed if it was pitched against the ZR1.

With you bloke, no way would I buy a GT beetle for £100k. But, after driving it, I can see why some do. I really, REALLY didn't want to like it but it brought a smile to my face with every gearchange.

I took my mate out for a Spin in my Tuscan 2 (3.6) 2 weeks ago - he owns a 997 C2S (355bhp) and reckons that the Tuscan is every bit as fast..

I don't think I'd have a chance of sticking with him on the twisties though when his car has PASM, ABS, etc

He mentioned that he'd probably lost almost what I'd just paid for my car in depreciation (He paid around £75k in 2005) which puts things in perspective.

Also - spent last weekend driving my car in Paris and virtually half the city came to a standstill when driving a Spectraflair Tuscan 2 around town with the roof off - people just ignored all the Astons/Ferraris, etc ! Not the most important thing, but fun all the same smile

TVR looks better, sounds better, more interesting/challenging/fun to drive, satisfaction of owning a rare dying breed, as jono says above people enjoy seeing them go by and they get respect from people who would otherwise take no notice of a ferrari/porsche etc, every journey is an event.

Theres very few times when im driving do i wish or think id need to be going slightly faster, in my eyes, its only reliability and top end grunt that the porka takes from the Trev.

A 997 turbo without sport boost is 303bhp per tonne a Sagaris is 352bhp per tonne. Would think the Brits can still stir the porridge with the Germans for half the price. I still don't think some folk actually realise yet how wonderful the speed six is. smile

The new GT2 has 530 HP and it's a fabulous car. As our cars get older, we are always going to get pushed down the HP ladder. However, there's no denying the uniqueness of TVR's, which is probably, why we buy them.

For what its worth, I was on a run with a Porche GT3 owner last week in the Tuscan 2 convertible , he commented on how quick the Tuscan was, he was following and struggling to keep pace (his words not mine) didn't get up to high speeds due to the nature of the road though.

Just a comment...... no more no less

I just think the GT3 driver was seriously lacking, he should be able to loose you, especially on the bends.

GT2's and GT3's are seriously fast and a great piece of enginnering. Any other Porker is just fodder. hehe

A lot of people wouldn't disagree, but I suspect the new Nissan GT-R will take that crown and that's before we even talk about the price.

It might be my imagination but i think the interior of the nissan is horrible, a sports car should have an interior that looks every bit as good as the outside.
