Rougham airshow
Discussion
What did everyone else who was there think of this?
I had a great time, although didn't get up in time to join the Mid Essex convoy so turned up late (black Tuscan S), and was too busy admiring Spitfires and amazing aerobatic displays to chat to anyone else in the TVRCC area - sorry!

& i kept him company on the wrongroad
It's not the destination thats important old love, it's the journey there.......![]()
exactly what hid said, but would rather of gone via a few beauty spots

Sorry guys got in late on Sunday morning...therefore got up later then I expected
...and missed my landing slot at Rougham. So left it to late before the restricted zone was implemented for the display....so went flying elsewhere!!!
Hope you had fun enjoying the planes....the Tornado pilot gave us a low (50ft) flypast over Southend Airport...on the way back from Rougham as we have a close associated with training RAF cadets etc.

Were there tanks giving displays this year?
...//P//
Yeah - it was surprisingly enjoyable! I haven't been to an airshow since I was a small kid (although some may say I've never really grown up!), and had forgotten how enjoyable they are!
We just spent the day sitting in the sun and admiring some great planes, cars and flying displays.
Alan,
I did remember you saying you'd be there, but didn't see you so assumed I'd got confused! Shame, as I was looking forward to being taken up for a quick spin (not literally I hope - I'll leave that to the nutter with that Sukhoi aerobatic plane

So...Ed...didn't your car get to be in the display line up?... ![]()
It would have made quite an impression with the general public....![]()
...//P//
Yep, it did actually, although more by luck than judgement! I turned up at the main entrance expecting to have to park up with everyone else, but a helpful marshal told me to go round the back way as it was less bumpy, and one of the marshals there directed me towards the TVR lineup!
We left the car and wandered off to find the loos, and I was amused to look back and see a small crowd of people hovering around the car about a minute later!

Ed,
Happy to take you up and your other half sometime if you want a ride

Yes, I made sure they were a bit more switched on than last year. The unofficial password was 'TVR Car Club'. I'm glad it worked.
We too enjoyed Rougham. I liked the 6 Yaks flying in formation best - they did manoevres just like the Red Arrows - very impressive.
Alan, we missed you - will you sign an IOU for my flight?
A very good day - thanks John for the organisation - the weather you ordered was perfect but could you arrange for the wind to blow in the opposite direction next year, as we got the full benefit of all the dust thrown up by the tanks playing in the stubble field?

Those Yaks were damn close together - I wouldn't have been surprised if there'd been a collision
Yep, the dust was a nuisance, and the noise - I'll try to remember next year to ask if we can be at the other end - closer to the planes, food and beer tent too!

Diane,
Yep no problem, actually I was flying in close formation with another plane elsewhere so should have done a fly-by
Yep those Aerostars (YAKS) from North Weald are not bad flyers!
Alan.

Alf, I saw from a leaflet in a car window that North Weald is under threat of closure. I expect the council want to put asylum seekers on it or flog it off for housing so they can pretend they're switched on commercial dudes... As a flyer are you aware of the campaign to keep it open?

Yep sure are (they want to build 5 thousand homes)...would be a real shame if it closed, kind of typical anti-aviation council...in around 5 years time can't wait until airfares double due to lack of airports (over demand)...then people will start complaining, unfortunately if people like you and I don't stand up for it now thats exactly what will happen...it will be too expensive for family holidays abroad (anyway this is a Motor forum...so I'll shut up) but remember it won't just be the pilots that will be pi@@ed off but also the Saturday markets goers and no motor sport events (ie TVR sprints etc) there either....this conutry is going down the toilet.
Rant over...
Alan.
