Have any of you ever picked your children up from school in your tiv. My 14 year old daughter is begging
me to pick her up from school in my cerbera. Now i have no problem with this apart from the fact she is going to be totally tongue in cheek showing off. You can bet your bottom dollar the whole school will be her freind that day. Then again if i was her age and my dad had a tiv i would have given my right arm for him to pick me up. she'll probably get the out as well. I need you opinion DO I or DONT I.

Oh. and any good stories if you have.

Go on pick her up

After promising for many weeks went round a friends house last night and took her two kids out for a spin. They loved it - elevated them to most popular kids in the street - even if the little lad couldnt see out the window.

Cant quiet decide which wins the funniest moment of the evening:

Little lad deciding that a ride the TVR raised him above the lads with the new football strips

The kids setting the alarm off - having been warned by their mother not to breathe on the car

The kids discussing whether the car cost as much as £1000.

Definately do it.

My dad used to pick me up from school in his Lotus and I used to love it. My sister on the other hand would die of embarassment for some reason.

Being picked up in a Cerb would give your daughter some serious street cred which goes a long way in school when your 14.

It could have a drawback in that your daughter may get a lot of unwanted attention from the opposite sex who want to go for a spin in your car!

I did this on the first day I owned a TVR! I went up to Harrogate to pick up my brand new Chimaera, and pootled back down (running in, so back roads driving), and arrived home about 20 minutes before my son was due to come out of school. So I sat outside, and went in to get him, and pretended we were walking home (as we normally do) and I said, "Wow, look at that nice car there". He ran over and said "Cor it's a TVR, wish we had one!"

So I walked round to the driver's door, and said, C'mon then, let's go! His face was just unbelievable, and he was almost stood up in the passenger side, shouting to all his friends etc. A nice moment!

So, do it!!

Talking about funny momments with the kids. I took my daughter to Rockingham a few weeks ago and the agreement was she could play her music all day
Everything was fine untill we came home. I got lost she had this music on by (I think his name is) john paul a sought of hip hop R&B reggae CP at max. Then to top it all we had a traffic jam on the M11. My head was about to explode when she said "dad do you like my cd" My only saving grace was the cerbera drove like a dream

My boss came over last night to return a lawnmower he'd borrowed. I went outside to give him a hand and found his 12 year old looking at Emms car - apparently its her dream car.

Got the keys and sat her inside it and let her open the roof, she was giggling and really excited - first time she'd been in a Boxster.

And the look on her face when Emm offered her a lift home in it was priceless. Her mum took a few pics of her sat in it when they got to my boss' place as well, great stuff.

Well, thats my Q3 bonus sorted then

Took my nephew out in the Chimaera. He was 8 or 9 at the time.

Afterwards he said Uncle Don was the best Uncle in the whole world because he had cool cars and gadgets...

Who was I to argue....

My other half is a teacher at the local primary school - when she takes the Cerb to school she is the coolest teacher ever according to her kids! I've never had so many offers to wash the car...

Go on take her!

I often got requests from my 13 year old daughter to pick her up from school. However when "Rich Bitch's Dad's car" name calling started I stopped.

So be aware that other kids can either love the TVR or use it as a way of being nasty to your loved ones.....

On the other hand I pick her up from Guides on a Monday night and the guide leader will say to the group as they finish for the night "Rachael dads arrived" when I am a mile from the hut

But don't you ever do that? It's not why I bought my car, but I certainly do on occasions.

I was bullied at school, and when the FriendsReunited reunion came up you can be quite sure that I let everyone know that the swotty mousey girl who got routinely done over for her dinner money is now a gobshite blonde (ahem, natural of course) with a TVR.

The best revenge is to live well, as they say

Let your daughter have 10 minutes of being centre of attention - it won't hurt. You could give a couple of her mates a lift in a Cerb as well, a nice gesture which might head off any 'rich bitch' comments.

Agreed RG.

Last year on one of Dons runs (the one that ended up with all of us being the star attraction at the village fete?) had loads of kids clamouring over the cars. Emm noticed one of the kids kept getting pushed to the back, so not only did he finally get a seat in her car, he got to start the engine. The look on the kids face was priceless.

Did labour it a bit on the starter though...

Do it. When I first had my Cerb my son asked me to pick him up from the Sixth Form college and I was specifically to park in the FRONT carpark. It turned out that all of the lessons at the end of the day are at the front so I caused uproar as virtually the whole of the sixth form ignored the teachers completely and came to hang out the windows to wave & shout encouragement. They then decided that doors were uneccessary so proceeded to flow out of the windows to come and have a gaup & sit-in. The best bit was that the teachers were perfectly OK with this, and in particular a young female teacher standing at the back of the pupils was also to be seen sheepishly waving as if saying 'I shouldn't be doing this but I just have to!'

Bbt11, go for it! You'll make her day.

We take SBaby to nursery in the Cerb occasionally, and at the grand old age of 6 months he's officially the coolest kid in the entire nursery.

Do it! It's better that she wants to show your car off than asking you to park it round the corner as she's to emarrassed to be seen getting into it!

Just be grateful that she's still a few years off being able to beg you to drive it!

Lots of positive stories there which is great. Unfortunately I dont have any good things to say about picking my son up from Nursery in the TVR.....

Its really sad, but we get tuts, shitty looks and comments when I pick up my 2 1/2 year old boy. He absolutely loves the car and keeps saying "faster, faster" (and occasionally says "crash daddy"... but thats another story).... but I cant and wont pick him up anymore - simply due to the stuck up bissy-body morons that drop their little-precious (or is that precotious) children at nursery....The last thing I want is comments and snidey comments made in front of my son....its so sad....

Shame - end up doing it in the Jeep and still get strange looks, but less so - I mean its a joke. The Jeep cost me less than £6k and the TVR less than £14K - which combined is less than some of the cars that are used by the mom's at the place - I mean brand new Merc E classes and Audi A6's are common....peoples misconceptions and assumptions just pee me off.....

Do it if you want, but do be prepared for the idiots of the world to ruin it for all.....

Paul,

As a point of principle more than anything else you should continue to drive your car to pick up your child.

Balls to the busy bodies.
