My MOT took longer than usual.
Discussion
Took the Chimaera for it's MOT this morning.
Showed the tester how to get in and start her up and then watched as he drove into the bay.
I was asked to wait in the room next door and as usual, had my fingers crossed that the car would pass ok.
I couldn't hear much going on for quite a while apart from the horn being checked. I was nicely settled down with a coffee & a September '07 issue of Autocar.
Again, I heard the horn being checked a few times & thought maybe it had gone intermittent. Eventually I peered through a small viewing window to see how it was going & there was the tester in the car waving like mad at me.
I went into the MOT bay & he shouted sheepishly "How do I get out of here then?" through the closed car window.
I let him out & had to stifle a laugh as he then said "and how do you get the windows down?".
I started to walk back to the waiting room & then he shouted after me "how do you open the boot?".
When I did this he saw the optimate & said "oh, you have to plug this in then do you?!"
I tried to kid him it was a hybrid to save fuel around town!
I thought it was sure to fail after all that but he turned out to be a petrolhead & loved the car so much he was considering buying one.
It passed with flying colours and only cost £29-95 to boot!

My MOT tester sort of gave up too (I had told him about the door release - I only thought it fair
) He did invite me to sit in the car - he said "I haven't got a clue what bloody buttons to press to get the lights on and I don't want to press an ejector seat button or something!"
He was staring at the back of the car so I told him the rear plate was back lit! (I don't know how many other cars have this arrangement)
Mines not one of the noisier ones but he did say "thank f*** for that" when he turned it off!!
Far more entertaining than MOTing other cars!
I take mine to Bomber Denton's garage for the MOT - far easier when someone knows what their dealing with and you get a bit of help when things are marginal too, i.e. tweaking mixture, tightening the wheel bearing to bring within spec without the massive sucking of breath and bill that most seem to manage.
