Hello,

I know many TVR clubs head down for annual jaunts to Champagne and I was after any hotel recommendations (reasonably priced) you may have, preferably in Reims but happy with Epernay, Ay or other surrounding towns but not too far South (eg Troyes)

Stayed at the Mercure, just out of town. Large outside car park.

By the way, avoid Chalons.

Stayed here a few times...very TVR friendly, in fact everywhere you go in France, as many here will testify, they just luv em cloud9 gated covered garage, comfortable rather than palatial, reasonable food, exceptional breakfast, loads of fresh fruit & preserves...omelette if you want. Very quiet right next to river & canal.
Also the champagne house we go to.....there are a lot, obviously, & it can be a bit of pot luck if you haven't been before & you can get ripped off if you go to some of the more well known houses....or not so much ripped off, but there is far better bubbly to be had! So here is the link to their site as well.....bear in mind that most champagne houses close on Saturday afternoons.
I also had an interesting experience on the ferry but don't know how to link to a previous topic, so ask if u want to know about that one or go back through my profile...June 2007 worthwhile reading though!
Also link for Logis-de-france

Hope you have a great time, any more info, just ask.

Thanks Chris - looks a nice hotel and I've sent a mail today to check prices and availability.
I've been a couple of times now but this will be the first with the missus. 2 houses I like are Drappier who are in Urville (hour or so south from Reims) and Hamm who are in Ay (just outside Epernay). The big houses such as Tattinger, Veuve etc are great for the tours but better quality and cheaper prices are available from the smaller more bespoke houses.

If you want somewhere quite I can recommend the following just outside Epernay.

http://www.ericsylvie.com/

The hunting Lodge is great, Champagne at 10 Euros a bottle, a pool table and complete solitide.

I'm off on monday for a week in the S, looks like I might get a bit damp on monday. This will be our third time at the Hunting lodge infour years :-)
