just had to go and get the tiv out off garage as ive got to use it for afew

days as my daily drive has got probs,anyway went and got some optimax for

her,and thought i would get some dinner from the kebab house anyway......

pulls up outside goes in orders dinner.whilst waiting i get the questions

1,is it diesel or petrol?

2,how much was it new or second hand?

3,how many miles to the gallon,

4,IS IT A BMW OR MAZDA?

neither i replied its a TVR!

I had this discussion the other day:

Guy "What car is that you drive?"
Me "It's a TVR"
Guy "Yeah... but who makes it?"
Me "Ummm... TVR.."

This isn't uncommon. Despite being the third largest independent sports car manufacturer (allegedly anyway when they were still in production) the marque is not that well known outside of the petrolhead/enthusiast realm. Perhaps this was part of the problem.

I wonder if Lotus (probably not), Morgan, Marcos, <insert others here> owners get the same response.

Mil: What's one of those
Mrs Gopher: a sports car
Mil: Who makes it?

Mil: Yes but what make is it?
Mrs Gopher: TVR - TVR is the make like Ford
Mil: So it's a Ford TVR? Never knew ford made a TVR
Mrs Gopher: No It's a TVR Griffith a Car Made by TVR called a Griffith, like Ford Ka
Mil: Oh it's a sports Ka!

I've had the old kit car one a few times and i've only owned the car about 8 months.

I was cleaning the car at the girlfriends mums the other day. I went inside to get the hose and when i came back outside 4 lads were stood around the car. The conversation went like this:-

Lads: Whats that?
Me: It's a TVR
Lads: Oh a kit car
Me: No
Lads But you can get them with different rear ends can't you
Me: No
Lads: Yeah you can, they only cost 7-8K don't they.
Me: No, goodbye!


And that was the end of that conversation.
