Trevor Wilkinson
Discussion
I am not very good at this stuff, but for those of you who are good at organising TVR events, It would be a great tribute if we could organise the biggest the Country as ever had to show our absolute appreciation for this Marque that he gave us.
I hope someone such as Sprint or TVRCC etc can arrange this.

I suspect the major problem with having a Trevor Wilkinson memorial gathering this year would be finding a space in the calendar that did not clash with other events.I organised the first Chatsworth picnic long before it became a Pistonheads event and even a small event like that, which incidentally turned out to be one of the largest gatherings of TVR's that year, was difficult enough because of apathy and unwillingness to commit.
This year is the 50th anniversary of the TVR Grantura, arguably the first "production" model and certainly the car which provided the DNA for all subsequent models but nothing has been organised by the Car Club to recognise it.
Perhaps a gathering next year, possibly on or as near to the anniversary of his sad passing away would be more realistic a proposition incorporating all models unlike the current trend towards specific model type gatherings and obviously international. Trevor and Jack Pickard both had a passion for motor racing so maybe an event centred around an historic motor racing meeting. I remember chatting to him once about the Tuscan Challenge series and he was so proud but his only regret was they were not racing and beating other Marques. Food for thought. I am sure the TVR Car Club will have something in the pipeline

Bob, that would be lovely. We will need as much help as possible.
If people could bear with us as we talk over options and liaise with family, friends and the estate trustees etc. Things may take a little time. We want to do something that is sensitive & relevant but in keeping with the sort of person Trevor was and would have wanted
Regards
Jeremy

It would not be appropriate to exclude ANY enthusaists and certainly would never have been thought of.

Seconded!! I entirely agree with all that has been said here think it's absolutely right to allow a little time to pass before canvassing the family and the Estate etc. To achieve this, probably building it into next years events is the way to go. It would not be appropriate to exclude ANY enthusaists and certainly would never have been thought of.

Having very recently lost my mum, i would certainly not want you to rush into liasing with Trevors family for something that they may seem irrelevant to them at this time, i may be wrong but having spent some hard times recently with my dad where he finds it quite hard to cope with simple things and make decisions on things that he has direct connection with i think it may be better for the family if it was left to next year to organise an event.
Others may disagree with this but it is only my take on the situation.

A memorial later in the year might be appropriate but I'd suggest any large event being held to mark the anniversary. (Even then it can be hard for the relatives, especially the first one)

Agree with the above absolutely. Just wanted to make sure that you all understood that things are being thought of
There is a mark of respect this weekend but I wont steal anyone's thunder - i am sure they will be along to say more

I'm sure that people will realise that Trevors immediate family should be thought of first in a situation like this and that we can do our own thing to remember Trevor. There is a mark of respect this weekend but I wont steal anyone's thunder - i am sure they will be along to say more

I was with the Hants region this weekend and there was a minute silence for Trevor which i thought was a good idea and could be done at any TVRCC meet.
An anniversary event would be an ideal thing in my eyes and can i suggest that we (as a club) pay for Trevors family to attend.
Glyn.
Following discussions with the team at Motorsport Vision, the TVRCC is privileged to announce that a one minute silence will be held on Sunday at Brands Hatch at some point to coincide with the Challenge Cup race, although exact timings are still to be arranged. We are grateful to the team at Brands Hatch for permitting this and also to East Sussex and NW Kents Regional Organisers for setting it up. More details on the TVRCC home page.
