Now I know that buying a car is fraught with danger for the unwary and nowhere more so than the area of a specialist vehicle but in my naivete I somehow thought that there would be a code of honour among thievesTVR owners. Having just bought my third TVR I thought I'd have a crack at writing an ad, feel free to pitch in
FOR SALE. TVR CHIMRIFSCUNORA
Enthusiast's genuine car (note the wording) with XX,999 miles on the clock (because we all know TVR odometers get stuck on the 9's) and full service history. Well, when I say 'full' I mean the whole owners manual is there, it's just the service stamps and invoices that are missing.
New tyres (once, they sure as hell aren't now) with lightly kerbed (to f*ck) wheels which may need rebalancing on account of the amount of wheel metal that now resides by the Queen's highway in the form of swarf.
Light stone chipping to the nose. Well ok, shotblasted to the point of transparency which is more than can be said for the piss-yellow cracked and split rear window. Aftermarket stalks and switches from a composite euro-car (Trabant). Replacement suspension installed by my mate Dave who normally works on bendy buses. Ok, so it's riding a bit high on the springs he nicked from work but if you don't like it stand on the other side where we left the original (knackered) springs on.
New clutch inexpertly fitted by the chimp/fitters in my transport yard thereby wasting a perfectly good clutch and flywheel. Engine free of troubles, or should that be untroubled? It's certainly untroubled by nasty, icky oil which I haven't bothered to check or top up since it was last serviced (see first paragraph).
First to see will buy. <panto stylee> "OH NO THEY WOOOON'T!!!"
