My race report from Caste Combe is now up in the Tuscan Challenge forum.

The quick version is:

Practice: Hit the tyre wall at Quarry. Hard
Qualifying: Spent rebuilding the car
Sprint Race: 15th and handling like a Renault 5
Feature Race: 9th

I'm afraid I did damage two Pistonheads.com logos too...

I've done that left at the kink 2 wheels on the very wet grass on the outside of the track and round we went managed to hit every corner
Racegirl actually came off about as bad as the car and she was only watching from the side lines, when saw the red flags out and mine was the only car not to come past her, she ran down the grass bank she was stood on, went arse over tit and smacked herself in the face with the helmet she was carrying breaking her nose
we laugh about it now though

Ouch!! (Racegirl that is).

I wish I could blame wet grass, but the truth is I went too fast and destabilised the rear of the car before standing on the brakes

Next (and final) race weekend is 27/28 September on the full GP circuit at Brands Hatch.

I was hoping to meet up with you at Combe - hope you can make it to Brands.

Unfortunately I went into the tyre wall 'mod-wise.com' sticker first - will get some new ones for Brands! Thanks for yor support with the racing, David.

Regards
Andy

Ed,

Just watched this! absolute terrific footage! You can see Mark stall on the start! Have you got the lap when he went by Andy?

Yes, you can see Mark go past. It's not massively interesting - I had hit Hugh and took us both straight on through the Esses, my tyre pressures went through the roof and I couldn't turn in or get the power down and Mark simply drives past at the back of the circuit.

Its a great pity we couldn't get the Feature Race on tape, there was rather more to see than the Sprint Race.

I am still somewhat bewildered at how my n/s/f tyre got to 40psi....

Once again I am gutted to have missed the race! I will also miss the season finale because as the Tuscans charge around Brands Hatch I will be hooning around Anglesey's Ty Croes circuit..

Andy in the video your left front side clip on the bonnet is open, you can see the clip sticking up in the air, did you have problems with that side?

The clip is in place but bonnet pin on that side had been half pulled out of the scuttle when I hit the tyre wall in the morning - hence the flapping.

I hit Hugh Marshall on that side just after the video clip ends and that took out the side clip too - as a result the bonnet flapped for the rest of the race.

Great vid Ed & griff2be. Took me about 2hrs (in the end) to download the right movie player but it was worth it!

I did the Combe track day earlier this year and the thing that strikes me is that on the track day we concentrate hard on getting the "right" line whereas with cars all around you you're having to take the "wrong" line to protect your position but still seem to be going flat out! Really impressive!

Don't forget that was my slow car. My fast car has close to an extra 200bhp and 400kg less weight. Come and play!!!!!!!!!!
