Does anyone have a set of exhaust gaskets they don't need - or know where to get some please? My Griff 500 is stuck at V8 Developments and the sun's out!!! The engine is ready to go in but there's apparently a nationwide shortage of exhaust gaskets - for two weeks! The only sort they will give a warranty on are the 'metallic' ones such as at Clevor Trevor:

(who are out of stock)

Thanks.

Thanks guys. ACT are out of stock and I can't be sure, but those ones on eBay look to be the asbestos ones rather than the metallic ones. Will try Real Steel tomorrow though. Cheers.

I can understand why V8D insisit on metal ones, my V8S will spit out the standard non-metal ones in about 6 months.

It is apparently due to manifold going forwards on our engines rather than backwards when fitted to Rover / Landrover vehicles.

They look like the pressed tin ones, not sure how good they are though.

Rimmer brothers and Brown & Gammons never seem to have stock problems!

I don't use exhaust gaskets any more. So I don't have a problem with them breaking up.

I use a smear of exhaust assembly sealant (not the stuff for repairing holes!!!) and this seems to work just fine. I've had the longest time of having no exhaust leaks in the manifold since I bought the car.

I know what you mean about shortages.

Apparently everyone wants new exhausts in time for Le Mans and as a result all the suppliers are tied up!

My car is stuck without exhaust manifolds and they have been on order for the past month... With any luck I'll have it back this week. Just in time for the rain to start again.curse

Thanks all for your replies. I have managed to get a set from Racetech.

http://www.racetechdirect.co.uk/product-subsection.asp?MakeID=8&ModelID=5&CATID=5&SUBCATID=32&offset=10&PageID=3

If you need some, you'll have to be quick to get in before Ray from V8D!

That means I should be able to pick the car up on Saturday. Wahaay!!
