Le Mans Classic or touring France? You need to know this!!
Discussion
Just spotted on a French Government website that as from 1st July this year you need to pack your roadside warning triangle AND a reflective safety vest. Apparently the absence of either will cost you 90 euros per item if stopped:

And while I'm on a roll...
IMHO the single most useful website you can access is http://www.bison-fute.equipement.gouv.fr/diri/Accu... It has an English language version too.
This tells you the dates of the National Holiday weekends and forecasts the traffic levels on the roads in various areas during the times that the French Nation takes to the road network almost to a man.
Planning your travel with this in mind will avoid sitting in a 30-minute traffic queue each side of a motorway toll booth while your blood pressure slowly rises to matche the engine temperature.
See http://www.bison-fute.equipement.gouv.fr/en/rubriq... for the forecast and
http://www.bison-fute.equipement.gouv.fr/diri/Accu... for the traffic news front page.
Enjoy!!

This has been discussed within the last month on PH but i think it was on the Le Mans forum.
The important info that you also need to know is that the His Vis vest must be kept in the cabin of the car & NOT the boot otherwise you will also be fined.
The idea is that in the event of a breakdown or accident the driver must put the vest on before they exit the vehicle....obviously the law makers have never tried doing that in a sport car..... presumably so you don't get mown down by another vehicle.

This is what they say (see http://www2.securiteroutiere.gouv.fr/vos-infos/pre...
There is (a) no mention of passengers, just "the driver" (le conducteur) and (b) it states quite clearly that the vest must be put on before leaving the vehicle (avant de sortir du vehicule). This is going to be difficult for most car owners, but not impossible.
Of course it may make sense for every ocuupant of the car to have their own vest and given the low cost of the items this should not be beyond our budgets. Each to choose their preferred option I guess.
