How's that for quick service. hehe

One of my favourite vids.

Time we had a street race over here again, like the Birmingham one.
BUT health and safety etc, means no fun any more.grumpy

I go to Macau every year for the GP. It's one of the best weekend's racing you can go to and still get close to the cars and drivers in the pits.

Also Macau is the Las Vegas of Asia if you like gambling and other 'entertainment'.

Thanks for that cuneus , especially the Tuscan vid , never seen thet one before.

The Macua footage was prompted by meeting Steve Cole at Oulton park on Saturday, really friendly bloke with some great stories of his time with the factory.

I'll happily drop Coley a copy of the DVD. Good to hear he was out having fun. He's of of the good old boys although I expect he'll be unimpressed with me using the term 'old'...

I hadn't seen the Tuscan video either. Went to a lot of the early races - including the first one. So sad to see Big Gerry and Dave Haughin both loving it - pity neither of them are with us any more...

Fantastic Tuscan video...! This was a production commissioned by TVR to capture the whole build up to and events of the inaugural 1989 season. I had a copy somewhere that has now been lost for many years and I've been looking forward to it cropping up on the Internet.

So many faces from back then. As Jasper said, both Dave Houghin of the Northern TVR Centre and Gerry no longer with us (I think Dave sadly died in '89 IIRC) plus a multitude of other names from the past and guys that I became friends with that I haven't seen for years.

I was there when poor Martin Crass binned his new car on the shakedown day at Oulton forever earning him the nickname "Martin Crash". Despite what he said on the video about perhaps it being his first and only season, Martin was an absolute stalwart of the series and stuck with it for many years. He actually got quite good.

Good to see Mick Hyde there as well. His first foray into motorsports and look what happens...? After a good few years in the Tuscans he and his wife Ginny started Radical.

What happened to Simon Wayne, Richard Cabburn, Chris Maries and all those old boys...?

Great memories.

PS: My dad isn't normally such a moaning tt. Please ignore. hehe

"Hi David,

No idea to be honest. I'd ask my dad but he's away on a biking trip with mates.

Cheers,

Roop"

Dave Haughin actually died in about May 1990 - very sad as he took his own life in a bout of depression

On a lighter note - Chris Maries had some sponsorship from the plastics division of a oil company ( Conoco?)Anyway one of my mates was a customer and used to get the full hospitality deal in one of the old suites at Brands Hatch - as his wife wasn't bothered I used to go instead, get given free lunch and a badge that said "TVR Enthusiast" and make up the answers to questions I didn't know the answers to...
