Hello - does anyone have any suggestions or recommendations for companies that can do top grade leather re-trimming work?

Thanks to the 'less than perfect' efforts of our insurance company's recommended windscreen people (thanks guys!), the dash trim on our '05 Tamora is history - we're now going to get the whole interior replaced so it all matches up perfectly

This is too much for our dealer's usual trim repair people, and they seem to be struggling getting quotes back through TVR Power. We're in the south east, but as the screen people are picking up the tab, I'm happy for the car to go to wherever is best!

I've spoken to KRJ (Cheshire?) and they seem to know their stuff - just on the back of a couple of calls I think we'd be happy to get our dealer to use them - recommendations anyone?

Thanks for your help in getting us out of the dull Saab hire car as soon as!

If you're a TVRCC member there's an article this month in Sprint on D&C Trim from Blackpool and there are some pictures of Dot Chant's Tamora accompanying the article.

Top stuff.

Have a look at Rawles Motorsports in Alton, north Hampshire - primarily classic/Healey restorers - not used them (but will be once the Taxman finishes draining me). I believe Fernies use them for any re-trims they need doing. Certainly the work shown in the photos on their website looks of passable quality.

Not cheap though - I was quoted £1k for re-carpeting and £1.3k for a new hood (custom built)

Experienced KRJ first hand for a re-carpet and can highly recomend them. Not had any leather work done by them but I'm certain it'll be of the same high quality.

Hiya,

Bielawski's (Sheffield Trimming Company) are worth a shout (next to Don Valley stadium). I had my carpets done there earlier in the year. The quality of finish on the upholstering (leather) look impressive to me. Price wise, seems pretty reasonable.

How did they work out the figure for the hood? Was it a complete hood that didn't need a panel?
Otherwise I don't see how they could get a figure more than double of charges I've seen for recovering a standard hood.

Hi David. In order to retrim the dash, the windscreen will have to come out again so make sure whoever does it is good.

As V8grif mentioned, my wifes Tamora interia was featured in the D. C. Trimmers article in Sprint this month. We can highly recommend their work and it only took 2 weeks to do. Also we found their prices to be very reasonable too.

Hi NTEL/V8grf - thanks for the recommendation on DC. We're not TVRCC members at the moment (have now applied today), and I'm struggling to find contact details for these guys - does anyone have contact details for them please?

And yes, noted that screen needs to be out - the replacement never went back in! - made for an interesting drive to our dealer!

Thanks

Whereabouts in the south-east are you?

I've used two trimmers in Southampton (albeit on my previous V8S) and I would recommend them both.

Cheers to everyone for their advice - we're on Kent/East Sussex borders, seemingly not that close to any of the recommended people, and at the moment I'm leaning towards TVR Power's bodyshop people in Northampton - they defintely sound as though they know their onions and are making me feel happy about entrusting my wife's beloved Tamora to them.

Anyone used Powers?

I guess the moral of this story is to refuse to go with the run of the mill windscreen people that your insurance company palm you off with, unless you have written back up, countersigned by the MD's great great grandmother's 4th cousin twice removed...

Nope - just a new back section and the targa recovered - ok, so it may be the best quality stuff but it certainly is one helluva price - I thought direct replacements were around £500 fitted, so it took me by surprise somewhat!!

Uber - I've used Mark Chalk in the Millbrook Business Centre - really impressed by his workmanship - let 4 panels in on drivers side seat on my V8S and was a v.good match. (At £100 a good price too for an as new seat). Also did a gear lever + hand brake gater for same car- top work

I've also had dealings with South Coast Trimmers off Bedford Place - again very professional.

Have you tried Wessex Timmers in Bedford place they do very good work; did some work on my old S3 and I think they also pic up the odd bit of work for the local merc and land rover dealers.
