Just a quick msg to the masses to check if I'm the only one totally narked by this:
Driving down the M1 I see 40mph limit signs-road works. Roads require maintenance-accepted. The speed limits are to protect workers and drivers-I understand that. I slow down to 40 as told.
Everyone else (or so it seems) ignores the signs and ploughs through at 70+ (I'm now in the way).
The (so called) road works seem to be just a collection of cones. I expect that around the next corner I will see some activity. Nope. It's just cones placed on the hardshoulder for 2 miles. I pootle through and, having been buffeted my passing luxury cars, emerge without seeing any sign of work at all.
Im now irritated and delayed.

Its been like this for about two months now-I pass through it every week. For the sake of new workers I refuse to blast through. Plus, it would be just my luck they would have set up a zapper on the very occasion I try.
Trouble is, Ive been subjected to loads of other restrictions like this. As a responsible road user Im trying to do the right thing but feel someone is taking the p1ss out of me.

How far are these signs going to push my patience?
Is it some kind of test?
If asked to hop on one leg Id ask "why?".
If not given a decent explanation Id tell the requestor where to go.
Im kinda coming to the end of my tether with this too...

Phew...that feels loads better.

Ask/complain to the Council - Highways Dept. With my cynical hat on I'd say they do this to add some congestion and get some cash in the coffers.

In such instances where there is no dug up tarmac, all it would take is some-one to lay down the signs when the workmen leave the site.

Trouble is, when people are made to slow down un-necissarily too often, they soon stop bothering to slow down at all!

In this situation I feel for the workmen.

NB. Mind you, my friend works for the HA and he reckons they spend most of the time eating hamburgers anyway!!!
