ANYONE KNOW IF TESCO SUPER-UNLEADED IS STILL 99 OCTANE? ON THEIR '5P OFF A LITRE' TV AD, THE SUPER-UNLEADED HAS A 97 OCTANE STICKER. I ASKED AT MY LOCAL TESCO PETROL STATION WHETHER THE '99' PUMP WAS STILL JUST THAT AND I GOT A SHRUG OF THE SHOULDERS. (MY 5 LITRE CHIM NEEDS AT LEAST 97). ANYONE GOT A DEFINITIVE ANSWER?
THANKS,
ROCKET DAVE

Depends on the station.
Sometimes 99, sometimes 97... read the lable!

Not a problem for me, i always use V-power... 99 all the time.

Not all Tesco stations are Tesco stations, if you get my drift.

Ones at Supermarkets are and sell 99, those on the roadside are Esso (I think) and sell 97.

My Cerb doesn’t like it, always runs on BP or Shell, thought I’d try some 99 and the car stalled as soon as it got through the fuel lines yikes thoughts of that dodgy silicone or whatever it was that contaminated fuel last year.

Probably just the ECU figuring out what happened, as it spluttered into life shortly after.

Someone mentioned V-Power was 99 – it says 97 on the pump, or is this a lie?

Remember seeing a comparison on this / the different super unleadeds. I cant renmember where though, but if your ECU can compensate for the fuels V power came out tops.
I'm sure one of you not so memory challenged as myself will remember.

I never use the supermarket stuff. We have a petrol chemical tester person on another forum I'm on whose job (or part of) it is to go around forecourts and dip test the tanks. Some of the horror stories he's told me about supermarket tanks is quite shocking. Obviously you'd expect to find a bit of crud at the bottom of them, sediment, etc, but he's found 2p's at the bottom of one tank! How on earth does something like that get in there. Needless to say I'm happy with the expensive stuff. I'm sure 99% of people will never have problems with the supermarket stuff though.

Approx 18 of Tesco fuel stations offer 99.

I know Brooklands in Surrey and Salisbury in Wiltshire do it. Info is on the Tesco website, somewhere, which is where I was looking to see if anyone local to me did it.

All the tescos in our area have 99, the Chimaera loves it and rewards me with added pops and bangs that are better than the BP Ultimate ones....

Sorry, meant to say I've used it on occasion and it's been as good as the regular V-Power. Unfortunately Tesco 99 is a bit rare in 'Stropshire' wink

That site is years out of date - We've had it at one tesco in a nearby town for at least 18 months and over a year in the local one and the one in the next town over as well. None of them are listed on that site....

I only ever try to fill the Tuscan up with Tesco 99. Tried all the rest, but it runs so much better with Tesco 99 than any other brand including V power.

That's because BP ultimate is 98 octane, which they sell to sainsbury's as their own brand super unleaded.

Anyone ever tried the BP Ultimate 102 octane? I know it's £2.50 or more a litre, but some of you are rich biggrin
