I was just getting round to joining the TRVCC, but was very suprised to see that not only do you get charged an £8 joining fee but also £4.50 for P&P!

Can someone tell me does the membership pack include a free lead bar, because I can't understand why it should cost that much for P&P. I know from experience, as a director of the TSSC, that we do not charge for P&P on membership packs.

That is cheeky! IIRC I joined in May, and it was £30pa + £6 joining fee - don't remember paying any p&p. Anyway, what for - you only get a sticker

Agreed. I remember paying the joining fee in my first year but no P&P?

I think I may have found a 'glitch' with the TVRCC on-line shop, it clearly states that P&P is not charged on subs, but it is automatically added at the checkout. So, I guess appologies to the powers that be and a slap on the wrist to whoever runs the merchant services.

I think I'll join by 'phone

Ring the club office and ask. Got to be more productive than posting here.

I agree Angus,

I was just noting an observation, no need to get 'touchy' about it.

I only got charged p&p on the bible, ordered at the same time. Fair enough, says I.

Following on from the £5 to the Le Mans debacle, I see there is a proposal to raise the membership fee by £5.

Well, that's the touchpaper lit.....

The £5 raise was voted on at the AGM and has been postponed. Firework defused!. The minutes of the meeting will be available shortly so please try and keep the rumours to a minimum. It really doesn't help the image of the club.
Cheers

Do I assume that there are a lot of the TVRCC management reading this board?

Angus, you're an Area Rep aren't you?

Mrs T, are you connected with the club too?

Nothing sinsister, would just be interested to know the characters on here as I'm a newbie.

TT Tim, more than happy to oblige. I'm one of the Surrey Regional Organisers (7 months so reasonably new). My profile says that I've been a member of PH for only 2 months. Truth is I always used to log on as Steve_T(other RO) and use his profile instead so I've been on here for years!(well it feels like it!).

The AGM was both constructive and positive with many points that have been discussed on PH being raised. The general feeling is that the new committee want to improve communication between the membership, the RO's and the committee so that any issues can be rectified quickly. Events will be bigger and better, a working group is going to be developed to improve the website and Sprint is looking for even more input.

By the way, if anyone would like to help with the website please contact me through my profile.

This is a great club and I really enjoy being a part of it.

Hope that helps.

Thanks Karen,

It's interesting to see how other clubs do it!

I'm on the management of the TSSC and also run a very succesful local area, just like your ROs. So car clubs are already quite a large part of my life.

If you don't know what the TSSC is try this: www.tssc.org.uk
and my local are web site: www.canterbury-triumphs.com

I guess the TVRCC is like all car clubs, the more you put in the more you get out.

I can offically confirm that the TVR Car Club most definitely DO NOT charge P&P on on-line membership applications. Unfortunately, the software that the Club uses can only accept on-line applications as a regalia item and then this automatically applies a P&P charge that you see on the screen. When it arrives at the Club Office, Carol and her team do not charge the P&P. It is a known shortfall in the website and I am pleased to report that following on from this weekend's AGM and surrounding meetings, there is now much work going on to revamp the entire site, not just this one aspect.
As far as the comments about the extra £5 added to membership, may I just say that this was approved by an overwhelming majority. Indeed, amongst those members present at the AGM where perhaps the justification was made clearer, the ratio of for:against was about 15:1. I will concede that in the voting form, the explanation was not that clear. In short, we have a lot of exciting initiatives that we should like to implement over the forthcoming year including improved national events, improved support to our regions and the ROs and improvements to both Sprint and the website to name but a few. However, I would like to emphasise that the proposal has not been postponed; indeed, with such overwhleming support, the Committee could not take such action. However, the proposal as shown in the voting form did not, rightly or wrongly, give an implementation date. The Club finances at the moment are such that the new Committee do not feel that such a rise is immediately needed but may be at some stage in the next 12 months in order that we can significantly improve our services to the members. Therefore we have simply decided that for the time being, the membership fee will remain unaltered with the increase being implemented at some stage in the next 12 months when it is necessary.
I hope this answers some concerns and I should like to take this opportunity to thank members for their overwhelming support of this proposal.

Area rep - I've never been called one of those before But yes, I'm a regional Organiser for the Club. It means I volunteered to act as anchor person for the region. My details are published in Sprint magazine and I take calls from members, i organise local events and I represent my region's members.

Excuse my tetchiness but as a strong supporter of the club (and of the newly elected Committee) I find it difficult not to take personally little jibes about its administration, structure and intent. The Club is the product of the people who invest time in it. Therefore if there are things the Club could do better (be it an alleged misrepresented postal charge, or a better way of organising Mania) then the only constructive way to talk about it is with the Club.

Don't take it personally TT but in order to give Club members what they want, those Members need to make their feelings known to the Club ROs and the Committee. Otherwise how will there ever be any change?

Oh, and by the way, RALPH DODDS FOR PRESIDENT!

Hi Tim

Many of the TVRCC RO's are regulars on these threads, & the regions benefit as a result.

Drop me a line via my profile & I will let you know what your local region are up to over the coming weeks.

it makes me laugh at the fuss some people make over the possible fee increase when you think how much we all spend on the cars! I think it's great value and Sprint alone warrants the whole fee!

This does seem to have been blown out of proportion a little.

Thanks everyone for your replies.

Angus, I fully understand your view point, if you read my posting above you will see that I am on the Council of management and an Area organiser for the Triumph Sports Six Club, so I more than understand where you are coming from. Offers of help are very limited but everyone seems to have a voice when they are not happy!

As for speaking to the club, I posted on here because at that point I was NOT a member of the club and knowing that a large percentage of the users of this board are, then I considered it a quick solution and knew that my posting would be answered promptly. By the fact that you replied you could say that I made my 'feelings known to the Club ROs and the Committee'

It was in no way a 'dig' at the TVRCC.

I am now a paid up member of the club, the membership pack is in the post.
