OK maybe this has been done before, apologies if so.
However imagine, if you will, a car similar in size, look and profile to the TVR Griffith. Retain the tubular chassis and glass fibre bodywork, but add side impact protection and a proper roll-protected windscreen. Imagine a 300 (real) bhp / 300 lb ft American V8 with 100,000 mile major service intervals. These days, you'd probably need PAS and (heresy!) ABS. However nothing else driver-aid-wise. Think of it as a slightly-updated Griff.
OK so I've recently bought a Griff and I think it's great. But I have this nagging feeling that TVR have left a big hole in the market since they've moved over to high-revving, low-torque (at low revs) engines.
This isn't disrespect to the current TVR range. However how many of you would be tempted by a 'new' Griff???

Marcos are trying to fill that very niche with their latest model.
I certainly love the idea of a V8 British Muscle car rather than a straight six screamer.
I haven't seen the latest Marcos, but part of the appeal of the Griffith was that it was a fantastic design. All the Marcoses I've seen have been ugly... perhaps I'd better do some googling...
Sounds great, but it doesn't fit in with current TVR thinking so it won't happen. Also, I wonder if your idea might not be the same in concept as the MG RV8. Nice but how many do you see?
Whatever fun car I have, a V8 and an open top is a must, so Griff is as far as I can go with TVR. Marcoses are the closest I think and run them close but the designs seem either a bit too plain or too wild.

Land Rover are selling off the Rover/Buick V8 production line, so maybe TVR should snap it up and start using the glorious engine again!

I know I'm into my Caterham's these days but I've been toying with the idea lately of maybe buying a Griffith which in my own opinion is the TVR to own!
Mungo,
Have I mentioned tht I think your opinion is one of the best on here
What has happened to these prototypes then ? Have they succum to the Wheeler hacksaw and can now only be reassembled from lots of bits ... or are they still around ??

I think it was scrapped. I was fortunate to see it in it's glory at the factory once when it was still in one piece and running. When they ditched the idea it got dumped in the yard and probably ended up being broken up. What a terrible waste...
These must have been someof the last sightings of it in TVR's infamous "graveyard"...
