Discussion
There goes half the reason I bought a TVR !

(the other half is already dealt with by conventional cameras)

121db here - but not a probem. There is no specific legislation AFAIK regarding db levels for cars , just that it shouldnt be too noisy for the type of car. If they wanted to introduce these cameras they'd first have to put in place legislation for the maximum db level.
I would assume that like most legislation it would only appply to vehicles made after the legislation came into force.

There is no absolute db limit in the UK!
I always thought there was a limit and that it was higher for bikes (which never seemed fair) so I googled it and found this:

The external noise emitted by passenger cars has been controlled since 1929 when the Motor Cars (Excessive Noise) regulations were introduced. New cars are now required to meet Europe-wide noise limits. These have been progressively reduced from 82 decibels (dB(A)) in 1978 to the current limit of 74 dB(A) established in 1996. This means it would take 7 new vehicles to make the same amount of noise as a vehicle that just meets the pre-1978 limits. Information on the level of noise recorded for new models of cars at their type approval test is also listed in the data table.
When looking at this information it should be noted that off-road vehicles are allowed to be 1dB(A) louder, as are direct injection diesels and these are cumulative i.e. the limit for an off-road vehicle with a direct injection diesel is 76 dB(A).
TVRs don't appear in the database, does that mean they are exempt? When looking at this information it should be noted that off-road vehicles are allowed to be 1dB(A) louder, as are direct injection diesels and these are cumulative i.e. the limit for an off-road vehicle with a direct injection diesel is 76 dB(A).
