Frightening D**k Heads!!
Discussion
Heading North along the A3 from Portsmouth this afternoon, discussing the days events with my kitchen manager, to look in the mirror and see some knob well up my R send in a white van!!pedal down and away, which you would?,he,s back, so this time I move over and let him by. This prat obviously does not like my Tuscan, he cuts in front and reduces my speed to 40mph,Not wanting to put myself or passenger at risk I stay with it, inthe meantime I have a coach followed by a lorry up my jacksie. Slip road approaches, I wait until the last possible moment and boot it off,the guy in the van cuts in across the grass, across the lot, screams to a halt and stops broadside in front of me, jumps out shaking his fist. I look in my mirror and see a coach and HGV heading down the slip road. F--K it I think, slams into reverse back onto the A3, traffic all over the show. I am off!! shaking like a leaf! Guys in the van are left on the slip road, fingers! and obvious obscenities!! Gone over it loads of times, no idea what I did wrong but drive a TVR!!
Is it such a bad thing??.

Sorry to hear that pubman, kinda dont know what makes these people tick.
as if they have some kinda right to have a go, i am sure some people dont get it that people actually work damn hard to buy/afford these sort of things. BB
f**k all to do with your car I had the same happen to me in my old Xantia (I know I know)for some reason these guys decided to have a go, white Escort estate occupied by 3 shaven headed, earinged, England footie T shirt wearing knuckle draggers. I was shaking with rage afterwards and wanted to continue the situation believe it or not! thank god I didn't Still, at least they weren't speeding

Had the drivers door kicked in by a yob minutes after England lost to Germany in Euro 96 (I think). It appears I was being unpatriotic in driving a German car, (Saab 900 Turbo). Cretin.
You just have to laugh don't you, nice car the old 900 a design classic and I just loved the pnuematic air vents. Mind you I kicked the door of one in a fit of pique and discovered an old X reg Saab was fitted with steel bars in the doors, f**k did that hurt!
Pubman - glad to hear your okay - In Tony's nanny state no doubt if the rozzers ahd been around they'd have found some reason to blame you rather then the poor hard working van man going about his lawfull business
Same thing happened years ago to a small Glasweagen (spelling) mate of mine - big white van guy got out and started having a go - my Scottish mate foolishly didn't drive away he got out and gave him a Glasgow kiss - big mess - white van guy walked (wobbled) back to his van and drove off! You did the right thing IMHO.
Ohh - and I agree with the white van guys on here there are so gooden's - I hope mine here at work are!!
Just enjoy the Tiv and when you see such foolery think about Pete & Dud (Derek and Clive) and just say to yourself "Fu**ing C*nts" and turn the CD up!

Sounds like you came across a complete a&$e yesterday Geoff. You don't need to do anything wrong to have a problem with people like that.
Well done for avoiding anything more serious. Hope you are over it now - I know that sort of thing really shakes you up.

The standard of behaviour on the roads down here has been getting worse for the last ten years but seems to have taken a nosedive in the last two ... I wish I knew what it was that makes these people do what they do but it's got to the point where I now dread the drive to and from work (130miles round trip) each day taking in the M3, M25 and M4.
Maybe the guy on radio four this morning was right - maybe we do need to stop the neanderthals breeding!

I reckon as far as Tuscans are concerned anyway, John Travolta had the right idea in Swordfish. Just a pity he didn't execute it with rather more respect for the car.
Something that I intend to do though, is to have a cheapo dissposeable camera in the car and peice of paper to note reg #. OK plod might not be too chuffed at the extra wok but if we all do it white van man and truck drivers might get the message and think twice (or am I still crediting him with too many brain cells).

Sorry to hear about your run in with the shaved ape in the white van. Just the fact that you pulled away from him when he first appeared in your mirror was probably enough to set that vein throbbing in his forehead!
Once his fuse was lit, it's likely that he had to try and exact his revenge regardless of anything else you did or didn't do.
A lot of the motorway (A3M?) and trunk road junctions are covered by cameras now, so you could always try reporting the incident to the police and see if they can identify the van. You could excuse your slightly unorthodox departure due to your desire to leave the scene hastily.

How am I tarring you with the same brush - how does my grammer interpret to mean all white van drivers are w****rs ? It doesn't. It says that every time I get hassle, it's a white van and the hyphen suffixing it relates "complete w*****rs" in that context. It doesn't say, if my understanding of english and sentence construction is correct, that all white van drivers are w*****rs.

Pubman, that sounds very frightening, glad you and your passenger are ok. As RichardR says, it may be worth reporting it to the BIB - they might not do anything, but then again if you don't tell them they certainly won't do anything. I have had a few scary moments with threatening driving behaviour but have not been chased and threatened like that, nasty.
Had a few of these enraged driver type instances and they're not ples. Best one was when a couple of blokes were following me for no apparent reason, when I stopped to let a friend out they blocked off the road parking opposite another parked vehicle. Bloke came marching over to my car, I wasn't going to hang around so went to move off only the car wasn't in gear, so it just revved rather loudly, bloke was petrified as he thought I was going for him, he jumped on the bonnet as I reversed and he slid off,
.
If you haven't got one, get a mobile with a camera in it, then that way you can photograph the knob in action (ooo errr).
