I suspect this has been asked and answered before but here goes.

How many TVRs have ever been built and how many are still left alive and running.

According to the bible the build numbers were something like 10k for Chims and 2k for Griffs but that was in the 90's boom period, so I am guessing at less than 25k cars in total over TVR's history ?

Of course over time several will have perished by various means so they don't all still exist.

IIRC there were only around 400 T350s (both T & C) made.

Steve Heath gives some production numbers in his 'bibles'.

390SEs fewer than 120.
400/450SEs fewer than 300.
All SEACs fewer than 40.

Some of the Wedge models...single figures.

Maybe not to everyone's taste, but always rare. smile

Does anyone know how many Griff 500 pre-serpentines were produced?

The Bible suggests that the Serpentine was introduced in August 94 (mine although first reg'd in 95 has a pre-serp)

So there's one precat Chimp then!

The trend I see is that as TVR made more and more expensive cars, they sold less and less of them - until they went 'phut'.

I don't think the Cerb figure is right. 1996 is always the number quoted.

That screen capture came from my desktop and is copied from an mail the TVR production manager Ben Laing sent to Land Transport NZ (our DVLA) in response to a request for production numbers to support a Sagaris import application. The accuracy of these numbers debate has been done to death with no real conclusion - someone who knows Ben was going to ask him about it but haven't heard anything out of that.

All I can say is I don't know how accurate these numbers are, but the source is a credible one and he had no reason to lie.

The 1996 Cerberas figure was quoted once in a Cerb forum discussion by someone who I think was an ex-employee, and has been oft repeated since then but I never saw any validation of evidence to back it up.

Bottom line... who knows, possibly not even TVR themselves smile

Judging by these figures my original guess of less than 25k cars may be too high. It could be less than 20k, even allowing for the "S" models and earlier stuff such as the Vixens.

Well what I meant was that the production figures for the S-series must have been fairly high as well - probably in the thousands rather than hundreds.
(Although we do have to make allowances for them biggrin)

I spoke to Ben last week and mentioned those figures. He said he'd created the numbers from some records and figures they had at TVR and SMMT figures he had access to and whilst he couldn't confirm them 100% he said he thought they were accurate as they could be.

So just another set of figures that 'might' be right.

I'd imagine that they actually bear no resemblence to the numbers actually left.

The consensus on the cerbera forum seems to suggest that no more than 850 cerbs are left.weeping
