I've just been quoted £900 for the renewal on the Cerbera. Out of interest I went to direct line online and got a quote with similar cover of £614.

The main difference being track day cover which I'm not likely to use.

What is the general feeling towards companies like direct line, churchill etc? good/bad??

Should I avoid them like the plague?

Anyone else I should try?

TIA

Been with Direct Line for 3 years now. Can't fault them. Never want to use the car on a track day, so no problem. Always ring round come renewal time - no-one can get close, except Tesco, who last year were £10 dearer. I get quotes for my Chim from £550 to £2000 each year

Likewise, there really is no ryhme or reason to it

As a matter of interest, why do you never want to do track days you can't explore (anywhere near fully) the cars potential on the road

INSURANCE
It's worth shopping around as quotes can vary enormously. Some companies will do very reasonable limited mileage policies. Here are a few suggestions: ; Sunninghill 01276-474844; Classicline TVR: 01455-891330; Peart: 01539-730666; Cheam: 0208-770-1001; A1: 01202-760022; TVR Car Club: 01491-578759; Norwich Union Direct: 0800-888112; Croftbrook: 01992-692364.

I'm with Classicline

I can't/don't want to afford new tyres each time plus brake pads/discs. Perhaps I would feel different if I passengered a track day - maybe that's why not the expense!

FWIW, I'm going to buy a (cheap) track day car as well... That way if I stuff it I can walk away and leave the smouldering ruins behind. And the TVR can be for Sunday afternoon thrashes, until the speed cameras finally drive me off the roads altogether.

Oh, and the only way to know if an insurer is any good is to claim. They're all good kids when they're taking your money. I've known well known insurers take 6 months of quibbling to cough up the money. OTOH, "Brokers Direct" were stunningly good when my wife stuffed her 205GTi.
