I have owned a TVR T350 since the begining of the year and I love it!!!
But there is one thing I hate when I pull up somewhere and jelouse non TVR owners who drive things like people carriers say,

" Theyre not even british sports cars anymore they're made in Russia!"

Or say,
"All they are is nakered old ford and rover parts bolted together!"

This really annoys me because I know deep down they absoluataly would love to own one but there misssus would take a dim view if they did. So instead they do as they are told and buy something like a Mondeo and just have it in for someone who can actually forefill there car interests.

The thing that annoys me even more is that Im not 100% sure where thay have been made. And not 100% sure what parts they have in them. So I cant argue back to these hen pecked people carrier drivers who woulndnt even know how to get in a TVR!

I know TVRs have borrowed parts from other manufacturers in the past. But do they now with the newer models such as the T350?

Also I know that a Russian took over TVR but were they ever made in Russia? And was any parts manufactured over there?

Any response would be much appreciated. Thanks.

I am sure others will add to this
they were all built in blackpool. Very English
Chassis, interior, bodywork, electrics, suspension all produced in house
Engine no longer a Rover unit now built in house
Brakes, clutch etc made by AP racing for TVR
The only real parts that are stolen from parts bins are Diff master cylinder stearing column etc. Which are now generic parts that most manufactures use.
So you do have a very unique hand built car quicker than most other super cars for a fraction of the money

Enjoy it it's just the green eyed Monster

I wouldn't worry the majority of the cars on the market today share chassis, engines from different manufactures TVR were just abit ahead of there time.

Not so much an argument as them taking the p!ss then, and you falling for it. Try not to take them, or yourself, too seriously. They're wrong, but trying to convince them of that won't stop them teasing you. Just try to remember at the end of the day you're the one driving home in a classic British designed and built sports car, and they're the ones driving home in boring soulless mass produced tin boxes.

Perhaps the newer models attract this kind of jealousy, which is ironic seeing as most the car is TVR built, but I get nothing but complimentary remarks about my Griff or indeed the S3c before that. confused

These are the type of people who gloat that Britain is great! then drive johnny foreign cars, boast about winning wars, world cups etc, then buy all sorts of electronic wizardry manufactured elsewhere. Just smile and wave knowing you have what thousands want, a TVR!!!!!!!!!!!

as said here all ready just ignore them and start her up it will drown them out in no time wink

Though I did have one guy in mcdonalds that thought he was clever once and while his mates were looking at it and asking questions he turned around and said shame they have gone bust though eh? My missis quick as anything turned and said back shame you work at mcdonalds though eh?

Maybe it was a little harsh on the guy but how I chuckled all the way home smile

What's causing your problem is not the 350, but your age.

You made a mature decision for a young bloke by choosing to go TVR when so many of your contemporaries would have done exactly what you said and bought a Skyline with the same sort of money.

You need to back up your maturity by giving them the answers they're looking for. Which is really, why has that young kid got that when I haven't. Because you love it and they would too if only they were as fortunate as you.

Best answer I can think of which will excuse you from answering any direct questions you may not know or remember the answers to is this.

"I don't care. I bought it because it's a real drivers car and that's what TVR have always been famous for" or "I don't care. I bought it because it's a real drivers car and I'm driving it".
