All this gripe about road tax going up??? you don't know how lucky you are, i'm in germany and i pay about £500.00 a year !!!!!

Scary indeed, but how many other taxes do you pay to keep your car on the road in Germany? How do petrol prices compare? VAT on petrol? Insurance premium tax?

If you add it all up over a year and the UK is cheaper, you win!

to premium tax on insurance, on every-bloody-thing just about...
to petrol too... how about.... wait for it...
98 RON about 80p/liter
100 RON about 85p/liter

oh, BTW, i'm 31, 6 years no claims, insured for 6,000 miles.... ready for this.... approx £1500

And Germany's in the EMU, so any country in that is screwed anyway - IMHO of course... hopefully you went there for a fantastically highly paid job which should make it all worthwhile in the long run?

No reason to do that, it's perfectly true. No US entry into WW2 = Europe now ruled either by Nazis or Russians. Mind you if I was an American, next time Europe needs help I think I'd tell them where to stick it.
