Spares situation
Discussion
Hi all, I'm sorely tempted to buy a TVR if I can sell my racing car in spring. Probably have about 6-8k to spend, so I'll probably be looking at a chimaera.
I was wondering what the spares situation was now that TVR has closed. Ire there lots of aftermarket suppliers? I don't want to buy one to find I can't get parts.
Anyone have any advice on these cars (Or any others like it)?
Thanks, Dan.

It could even be argued that the situation has improved since the demise of the factory? Thats not a dig at Bristol Ave, just a comment on the changing situation. Initiatives like Sportmotives outrigger replacement, and various uprated wishbones/bushes.... are far more common than the stock replacements/parts/methods that were factory driven IYSWIM. We are a nation of make doers I suppose
and maybe are at our most ingenious when forced to find alternative solutions?
and maybe are at our most ingenious when forced to find alternative solutions? There are no real problems with spares. I'm told, although have no personal experience, that sourcing a window can take a little time although s/h ones are available. You can't move for RV8 spares including new engines. You can buy a 3.5 that puts out more power than the original 4.0. Even more power than TVR said it was pushing out.
Speed 6 spares are readily available and there is a bigger selection now than ever before. Engine blocks are not being manufactured at the moment but everything else is. You even have a choice of finger followers or bucket tappets. It is an unfortunate fact that there are a number of s/h spares currently available and the source does not look like druing up for some time.
It's fair to say that whilst there may be the occasional specific spare that goes walkabout, given the number of cars on the road that need them, it is financially viable to have them remanufactured or, more likely, re-sourced.
