Warning: Rant ahead

I was driving my 6 year old niece home from school along a local A road today. We were listening to the radio and telling one another about our respective days and generally watching the world go by enjoying the last of the days sunshine. Now, I never travel quickly when I’ve got loved ones onboard – usually 10 – 20 mph below the speed limit, especially out on country roads where things tend to happen so suddenly. Sure enough, eventually the inevitable happens, as I turn to look at my niece again to say something I catch a flash of colour in my mirror which on taking a better look is a car gaining quickly. After about 30 seconds he’s 2 or 3 car lengths behind me – why bother? Why not hang back a bit I’m clearly not going anywhere? But no, this prat (in a TVR/penis substitute BTW) wants to “make progress” and any other road users who don’t are just obstacles to him.

This continues for about another minute until we come to a kink in the road – a slight right hand bend at which point the idiot completely disregards the white paint in the middle of the road and cuts the corner in doing so pulling fully onto the wrong side of the road and now about 1 car length behind me. Would you do this on foot? Walk immediately behind and to the side of a total stranger? I think not, so why do it in a car?

As we’re on a nice straight wide bit of road I accelerate up to 50mph and next he actually starts to try and accelerate past me – as if he hadn’t proved what a cock he was already and driving on the wrong side of the road wasn’t illegal and dangerous enough, what if a deer or worse a child had jumped through a gap in the hedge or something. By the sound that the baked bean cans on the back of his deathtrap are making its obvious that he’s in about 2nd gear – really energy efficient so now we can add eco-terrorism and disturbing the peace to his list of crimes as well but to make things even worse he doesn’t even bother to pull back in after he’s finished playing god with my 6 year old niece’s life – he goes round the next corner (a gentle left hand bend) completely on the wrong side of the road, only cutting back into the right side of the road to cut the corner.

Immediately after this well arrive in the town and sure enough he’s now holding me up. Do you see me stooping to his level though? No.

It’s drivers like this that give us all a bad name. Want to own a penis substitute deathtrap without airbags, crumple zones or even ABS? Good for you. We all just think you’re a prat. Want to speed? Do it on the track where you won’t kill someone. I don’t care how skilled you think you are, speeding KILLS. I’ve drafted a letter to the local council’s safety camera partnership and hopefully they should be able to do something about it.

You are a numpty who drives at 40mph no matter what the conditions AICMFP.

Do you live in Kent, by any chance?

I would imagine there are plenty on here who don't see TVR ownership as being a prat.

hehe

He had perfect opportunity to overtake you safely, and yet you speeded up and made it unsafe.

Why not just let him come past you?

You know its terrible when i am out in the country the number of children that just jump randomly out of hedges

And they are so much harder to wash off then flys

And they leave a nasty dent

Thoughtless little hedge dwelling little bds

And then, when he slowed to 30mph in the town, you got frustrated at him going "too slowly".

I can't drive very well, think overtaking is illegal and get confused when other cars try to use my roads.

Got be a wind up, I'll bet the OP was actually the person behind and he's posted from the perspective of the member of the '40mph everywhere' brigade who he was trying to overtake.

So because I own a TVR your saying I have a small penis ?

Have we met before;)

While I understand your frustration of a bad TVR driver does not make all TVR drivers the same.

That was my first thought as well!
You do realise what website this is don't you? And that the majority are sportscar owners?

I'm assuming there is a post somewhere on pistonheads along a similar vein and this is some witty retort/counter argument. Otherwise get a life.
