New TVR Oil Pump
Oil flow for Speed Six increased by 30%
As part of the continual development of the Speed Six engine Dulford Automotive has created a new uprated oil pump.
According to the company, oil flow has been increased by nearly 30%, taking it to 30 litres per 1,000 revs per minute.
The whole unit is made from a single aluminium billet with new larger gears. The drive shaft has been enlarged with stronger double key ways fitted.
The pump is a direct replacement for the original unit and requires no further modifications to the block.
The pumps will be available exclusively through TVRcarparts. Go to www.tvrcarparts.com for more information.
Discussion
It is good news as anything developed to help the speed 6 oil issues is a good thing. My car is at Dulfords getting rebuilt and is getting fitted with this. So excited about getting it back.
Cant remember exactly how much it is but think it is over £300.

Now i can sleep peacefully knowing TVR owners can enjoy nearly 30% more oil flow, in other news I note with great interest that the RathGibson Spooling Unit now handles 2 Control Lines
and is suited for offshore and onshore applications equally, I hear the interest is as widepsread as the aformentioned article about oil pumps
Really though keep up the good work PH
edit: yes i'm aware PH was originally based as a TVR focused site, lets allow a bit of banter though and anyway, its not an oil pump, it's a shadow

Whilst this news is of no real interest to me personally, the above sarcastic contributors would do well to remember that PH was initially launched as a TVR focused website, or so I am lead to believe.
I didn't know that.Still, why not post it as "news" in the TVR section?

Sarcastic posts aside..
It’s interesting news, certainly an increase in oil pressure can`t do any harm (can it?)
James
Unless the myriad oil seals are unhappy at the increased pressure. Do TIVs leak a lot normally? It’s interesting news, certainly an increase in oil pressure can`t do any harm (can it?)

One interesting fact is that some S6 (standard) engines develop more oil pressure than others - it seems to be two schools on it.. (8psi->45psi and 20psi->50psi, depending on oil temp and rpm)
J
Jim,
its dependant on oil grade used and lower pressure does not always mean lower flow. There are a myriad of reasons why the S6 goes tits up, materials used, oil distribution, owner sympathy, oil levels, air locks in the water jacket to name but a few. Anyway back on topic- oil pressure flow and pressure increase must = better than before.
Go on buy one for the silver beastie!
