spent a very enjoyable (but bl**dy freezing) day at silverstone watching the annual birkett 6 hour relay race. after leading the handicap standings at the 1 hour mark the grantura team suffered several non scheduled pit visits which sadly dropped them from contention at the top. the Tazmin team put on a good show also but were simalarly afflicted with extra stops including one losing all it`s bonnet. amazed by the turn of speed shown by the fastest Grantura, blew by the Tazmin with no trouble at all.both teams finished mid table with the Grannies finishing in front on both scratch and handicap. there was also a Vixen with an odd looking bonnet in another team and a rather rapid `new shaped` Griff in with some morgans. well done to all the TVR drivers. can`t wait for the revamped Tasmin series next year when we can expect to see it opened up to any TVR model.----martin

Yeah it was a great day out

The tasmins were running 19th overall at the half time mark,

then it all went a bit pear shaped,

first Robin lost his bonnet, he would have stayed out but it ripped the header tank out and the car started to overheat, then i went out for my second session and got down to some good times a second or so below the scratch time. then about 20 mins in i started to get a misfire so came in. Then pat went out, but after 20mins we realised he didnt have a transponder so we were loosing laps!!! jack was put straight out as pat was called in and fitted with a transponder. fairly quickly jack had a fuel punmp problem and pat was sent back out and started to put some good laps in before being pushed onto the gravel by a slower car and sticking the car backwards into the gravel leaving it with a reshapped back end deranged suspension and pat with a broken rib or two....
SO robin was out again followed by Kevan with me in reserve. the team worked out that we had 15 mins more to run than kevan had fuel, so i was to go out for the last 15 and take the flag. i was looking forward to that even when it started raining. Jack was the last reserve and a set of wet tyres where put on his car in case it was to slippy for my very worn kumhos...I headed out and the track wasnt that bad so i felt i could push hard, but then it started to misfire again and died completley on the straight so i limped back to the pits and jack ran the last few minutes to the Flag.

The Granturas beat us by one lap on the track finishing 25th from a scratch position of 30 and we came in 33rd from a scratch of 32 ho hum..

I think all the tasmins were within a few secods of each other and the granturas were a bit more spaced out with one very quick car, as i had the green one a few times.

The mix of speeds was amasing and a tad frightening at times but great fun

Cheers

Think that'll be Doug Ellwood in the David Gerald Griff. Been out a couple of times on test drives with him and have watched him in the 750 roadsports series and he's bloody quick.

Would like to have gone yesterday but couldn't, shame to miss the Granturas all out together...
