Why don't Cerbera handbrakes work?
Discussion
Getting the handbrake properly adjustment makes a big difference, no need to mod them. You need to back the adjusters off first, then sort the shoes out and then finally reapply the adjusters. You want to get the bottom edge of the shoes as far out as possible for maximum mechanical advantage which is why the adjusters need to be backed all the way off first. Wind the adjuster between the shoes out until you can't turn the disc. Then give the disc a few firm taps with a mallet which will free the shoes an let the disc turn again unless you have the shoes as far out as they should to go. Once you've reached this position, back the adjuster between the shoes off until the disc turns again. Finally reapply the adjusters to get the handbrake to the height you want. David Batty did mine and a it looked awkward to reach the adjusters even with a ramp.

I tried the straddle the tunnel and pull like hell for the MOT. Finished up with the handbrake flopping round loose and a welding job.. but it passed! I wonder if some later ones were modified (mines 2000). I have stripped and lubed and adjusted it several times and at best it's crap and never lasts more than a few weeks. Will talk to trackcar when I bring here out of hibernation.

I remember when I first got the TVR and we took it to the Isle of wight. The ferry people kindly put me at the front all on my own on the ramp. Then the ramp went down at the other side and I had to jump on the foot brake quick
Mine gets adjusted every service and it's great for about 4 months, ok for the last two.
