Stumbled upon some recent video's on youtube. They are all from the 1999 TVR sprint championship season and posted up over the last week. They feature a hard driven yellow Cerbera all hosted by 'ian9207' anyone here confused here's a link to one but if you look at his profile there are plenty more, great viewing http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yIbTcRSJ7IM&fea...

Ian Moon perhaps?

M4OON Cerb 4.2, 333bhp/reasonable torque. smile

Incidentally, at the same venue in the next corner - and at a higher speed, is where mackempetes Cerb had a motorsport moment at the hands of Matt Oakley. thumbup

Cerbs with motorsport pedigree these... biggrin

I have just been looking at them, its definately him. I never managed to see him at a sprint/hillclimb, but from the vids it really must have been a sight. Some superb Cerb driving there - really good vids, fantastic find. thumbup

Anyone thinking of buying a Cerb should see these. smile

That would be Ian Moon, had a nice time at his house once for a few hours, trophy cabinets full of his bike racing trophies and awards, quite a quick guy! Held the record at the back home promenade sprint too, everyone thought his car was tweaked because of his house being close to the factory but when it was tested it had good but std power output, he could just pedal it realy well! I don't think he's had a cerb for about 5/6 years now though.

Joo - I've heard numerous stories about him over the years - and met the man himself at one of the first dyno days, the car was 333bhp, 320ish lb ft IIR. There was an accusation that he ran sticky tyres, but from the vids - it just looks like he really drove the wheels off of it. Fair play to him for that. It is unfortunate that his sucess has been blighted by something that occured a little later on, but we live and learn I guess. smile

Either way, the past is the past - and this Cerbera is certainly one that helped make me the Cerb mad man that I am. thumbup

I'd like to know what he ran suspension wise, the camber looks a little beyond stock and it certainly seems to have reasonable rear traction, infact - looks to have a little more understeer than expected - did he run without the rear ARB?

Yes I was party to both sides of the story, but as you say past is past and ian paid his debt. he was always gracious and charming company whenever I met him and he loved his tvrs that's for sure smile

As far as I am aware he ran a standard car, certainly the dive and squat suggests soft std spring rates (compare ian's car to the early footage of the purple cerb being thrashed around the lancashire countryside and they display very similar visual handling traits) .. I think he just drove it hard and set a few records along the way it seems smile

I wasn't at that event but I've seen him at many others. The guy drove like a complete nutter and everybody always used to make sure they were watching when he ran, very similar style to Steve 'sideways' Lyle in many respects and hugely entertaining to watch.

Pete one of the vids is the back home event with the sea front 1/4 mile. There is a fleeting glimpse of a Green S pulling away at the start line, wasn't you was it confused.

edited to add; 98 back home V8S here at 18 secs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yPA9WQJqLzQ&fea...

It wasn't me but I don't know who it was. There are a few vids of me sprinting on PH TV but I've never seen any of me from the back home sprint.

May have been Steve lyle who Peter mentioned earlier, who was and still is an absolutely amazing driver. Not only is he properly gifted in terms of car control, but he also manages incredible times considering the spec of his V8s - I am certain on a twisty road most TVR Sagaris drivers simply wouldnt see which way he went. thumbupbow

LOL no it wasn't Steve H, he had sold his V8S by then. Steve H was also there, but in his cream-coloured 390.

How on earth did you make that out? I've gone cross-eyed trying to make that out and all I can see is smoke.
