Don't worry It will all be worth it when finished. I bought my cat D last March and it still isn't ready. Not long to wait now, just a few bits to do for the failed MOT then have the seats recovered and off I go...woohoo
I have got a few pics though...

S6 Devil is that reflex purple or green? I'm looking forward to seeing finished pics with that grill you have.

Cheers

Hi Whity,
It's neither, it's called spectra FX emerald/ blue. I couldn't source water based reflex paints so bought this from the USA. Reflex paints are around £500 a litre, This was £500 for the whole car, it's a powder that goes in the clear coat over a black basecoat. I will post more pics when finished!
Here's one with the mesh in the grille...
Cheers!
Mike

sorry to the OP, topic has gone wayward, but im intrigued....how many litres does it take to spray a tuscan then? So comparing proper relfex with the US sourced spectra, how do the costs stack up??

It's approx 4.5 litres for a full change of colour respray. So reflex paints alone would cost £2250 as opposed to £500 for the spectra fx clear coat additive. It does need a black base coat as well. They also do the fx additives in other colours. Hope that helps!

Wow.. it certainly looks good, maybe not as vibrant as the reflex colours (maybe its just the photo's?)

So this is just a black car with a special clear coat?

Being a total noob at car paints / spraying - does anyone know of disadvantages of this method?

I think it's the pictures, it's quite dramatic in the flesh!
Yes, basically a black car with the clear coat on top, with the spectra fx powder added.
As long as the sprayer makes a note of the amount of additive he puts in the clearcoat, there should be no problems if any part needs a later respray and blend in.

I assume it costs a little more than £500 for the paint (cost of black undercoat) but compared to £2250 its a really good savings!

Would be nice to see the car side by side a reflex painted car for comparison smile

I`m curious to how the paint holds up in the English summers/winters and to stone chips (can u touch up?) - fancy writing a report in a years time smile

I think all in for all paints, clearcoats etc was around £1000. Ryan, the sprayer has used a top grade clearcoat which should hold up well, he's at SP Automotive, http://www.spautomotive.co.uk/ and am sure he would be happy to advise. I'm happy to do a write up in a years time if I remember or am reminded. I will post some more pics of the car outside when all is finished and if I see a reflex green car at a meet will see how they compare. Cheers! Mike

For some reason or other I can't see the photos, is there anywhere else I can go to see them as my Chimaera is going up to SPAUTOMOTIVE in June for a colour change to either MATTE or SILK Black, from ruby mica red. And headlight conversion too.
