Hi all, i have just had a good rant in the S series bit about some mystery scratches on the rear of my s. I can only think that a cat has got through a gap in the garage door frame and caused the lightish scratches. The car is(was) MINT, had a re-spray a few years back.

I'm so gutted that i have these bleddy marks, can anyone please suggest any thing that works for getting rid of them?

I don't know if all the normal products are good with fibreglass?

Many Thanks..

Tony

How brave are you with "T-Cut" and some very fine (2000 grit) wet & dry. You'll be surprised at what you can remove, Just as long as the scratch has not gone though the paint.

+1 Use it on the Tam, I get a few light marks on the rump where the cover touches it. Works a treat!

Hi,i work in car manufacture and get tips off the paint rectifiers and regarding scratches it depends on whether your respray was clear over base or as with my Griff repaint the laquer was mixed with the paint and activator. If you have clear over base you have to be careful that you don't have whats called a rub-through,basically through to the paint.Might be worthwhile getting expert advise to avoid tears.Regards,Dave.

I would suggest speaking to a professional detailer and get them to correct it properly. It will probably cost you about 150-200 quid to get the whole car swirl free.

If your ever on Marsh Barton, there is a very very very good paintshop near to the Renault garage. Think from memory its called smartworld.

They used to do our work at Audi, they also do work for Ferrari and alot of the prestige places.

Give them a visit and they would give you great advice.

I had loads of scratches that my other half had made by scraping off the snow with the windscreen scraper.

I used Farcela G3 - compound.

It's much safer that stuff like T-cut which is not good for modern paints and lacquers.

That is good stuff but needs to be used with a machine polisher to make sure the compound gets broken down properly.

I have had good results with Autoglym Paint Renovator. I had quite a few scratches and some cloudy bits where my cover had rubbed and it came up like new.

Thanks all for the help. It's so frustrating when you take such good care of the Tiv, and you get scratches while it's in the garage!!

I may try the place on Marsh Barton as I am there everyday due to my work.

Thanks again..
