Not happy with this new events forum. How many people actually regularly check this for local runs?

Events do get lost there, but now I know about it it is on my favourites.

IIRC the poll thread came out at 84% in favour of the Event/meeting forum.

If more members post in there then that'll be the best place to look for that type of activity IMHO.

It may well also cut down on the number of multi forum duplicates covering the same topics. smile

I do agree, But too few people actually visit regularly. This means i have to personal mail everyone in the region to organise a run until the section becomes more visited.

I want to add one thing. How do we know when a thread is being read? Why is Pistonheads so far behind other forums in not showing "read vs replies" figures?

I`m not convinced that many people know that a TVR Events forum exists.
Most of us have our favorite forums, and when a new one comes along it might take a while to realise, and then place it into your favorites.
May be we could have a sticky in General TVR to advertise the the new forum for a while? Al, what do you think?

I can understand what you're saying, but until members START using it in earnest it wont get any better, I must admit I haven't keep my eye on the ball recently and perhaps moved the threads quick enough to drive members over there. I must try harder. paperbag

Regarding your second point might be worth raising that in website feedback, Will and Pete probably never come in here. hehe

Sounds a feasible request, I'm not sure on what it entails.

But you will get an answer as to whether it is from the Guys. smile

Already done a while back. They said the server was undergoing an upgrade and this may be possible in the near future. This IMO is an incredibly valuable part of a forum. Would appreciate you pushing this idea forward wink

The events should really be on both model specific fora and the events one. It's duplication but (for example) I'll not visit Griff/Chim/Classics etc fora very often and so will not see events on these, but i'm happy to support those I can.

The common sense approach is to see how it works and evaluate, then take a decision as to its continuation or not.

Anything that generates more support for events/the marque must be good.

I think the new forum is a great idea and works. The wiki idea suggested on the forum is also a good one and could be a sticky at the top of the events forum page. Once people get to know about the forum and add it to favourites it will get more traffic.

How about a temporary sticky at the top of the TVR general page telling people about the new forum Al?

Edited to sat just read again and saw T66ORA already suggested the sticky...

Morning Guys, I'll bang an information thread together, sticky it and close it in GEN TVR etc. later today.

In all honesty the mods team and HM have been discussing stickies recently whilst they are stuck at the top of the list they ain't really standing out.
I know I don't seem to hone into them.

So we’re working on that in the background as well. smile

This is a feasible request and something we would like to add to the system, the problem is the current server architecture we use for the site. We would need to investigate the impact on the system to count every read as this will result in a very heavy load on the databases due to PH's popularity.

I will have a think how this could be implemented to not reduce the speed and usability of the forums, but think this will be still sometime off being added to the site... Sorry.
