How many miles do you intend to do in each? Can't you put one on a Classic style policy?

Put the Tiv on a limited mileage/summer only type policy - or a classic policy, how old is it?

Transfer the NCB to the Pug. Is that quote fully comp? why not insure the Peugeot Tpf+t only? Especially as it's only worth ten tanks of fuel?

At the moment i have a 4.0L Chimaera 96 'N' plate. I have it ensured throu Tescos at the moment (cheapest for me 1200fully comp)- tpo is still silly money on the 205 for me. But still want the TVR insured all year round for the 'nice-bright cold winter days'. guess if i want both then i will have to pay....

If you've had your Tiv more than a year try ClassicLine or some of the other classic insurers, as they'll provide a future-classic policy which will be hard to beat.

Otherwise the larger providers sometimes allows sharing of NCBs, and the insurer who Tesco use might be worth a try for this.

I went with classicline on limited mileage policy, and they 'mirrored' my full NCB on the tin top!

I thought they had made an error, and my so much more honest than me wife insisted I double check. I did, and they confirmed I have full NCB on BOTH cars, despite not earning them on the Tiv - result

Check you TVR insurnace policy for a clause that allows you to drive any other car that 1)You dont own or 2)is not on hire etc.

Transfer ownership of your 205 to a family member.

Permanently 'borrow' their 'new' car from them.

Result: Legally drive the car at no extra insurance cost.
The car you say is worth £500 so i assume you are not interested in fully comp anyway.

I am just doing the same thing.

Transfered no claims to Tiv (£501) Limited to 6000 miles

Pearts were cheapest for the Clio as well, coming in at £507 with no no claims, but a discount from the full horror.
Cheaper than my current insurer could do.

The insurance companies have got wise to this though it appears now.

I've spotted items in T&Cs about emergency use only and suchlike, so be careful.

If you have a minor low cost ding they probably won't dispute the claim, but if its a big claim (reversing into a Bugatti Veyron etc.) and they decide to check up and find you've been driving on the emergency facility, they may refuse the claim and you'll be liable

Thought you were only covered TPF&T if the car you are borrowing is already insured by someone else.
