I'm hoping the PH wisdom can help me out with an issuing I'm having.

I've got a new grill and splitter that is in the process of being sprayed. Well that’s not quite true, it's not being sprayed as they can't match my paint. My body code says P965~PM81B and the car is a silver colour. I believed it to be 'Brilliant Silver' when I bought the car. However the garage is saying that code returns a green!!! My car hasn't had a re-spray to my knowledge so I'm a little unsure how this can be the case.

I've looked through the Wiki's on here but can't find the above code.

Does anyone on here have a 'Brilliant Silver' car? If so could you confirm if your paint code is the same. Alternatively if you have the same paint code but your car is green that would help me to, I think?!

I've mailed Gerbil as I understand he is the man to speak to, just trying to see if there is anyone else out there who could confirm either way.

Thanks for your help

I've not tried to get any paint work done yet but I will face a similar issue. On the body plate I have a paint code that is one of the gree colours but my car is Cherry Pearl (and alwyas has been I beleive. In my handbook is another code and reference to cherry pearl as the colour so I am hoping that this is correct.

No help to you with your question other than may be check what is in your handbook. But you're not alone if that is any comfort.

From memory my handbook just said 'Silver'. I'll have another look at it.

I have the same problem...........It just comes back a "Silver"....... No details of which manufaturer or brand. And I still can't work out if the paint code is shown within the "Engine Number" on the log book/vin plate or if it's shown within the Vin/Chasis/Frme Number. If it's within the Engine Number, then mine starts with P640---- ..... is it those first four letters/numbers that indicate the paint code, or is it somewhere within the Vin Number ??????

The last picture probably shows it best. Is this the same as yours ????

Jim Green...

From the pic's your car looks to be the same colour as mine. I'm told that the last four digits of the chassis no (listed as Vehicle id on the plate in your boot?) can be used. Not sure if those digits are actually a code or not. Mine are 1884 so don't seem to be.

I'll let you know any developments. Hopefully I won't end up with a Tuscan that looks like a Benetton Polo!

The last four figures on my Vin Number is 1405...... Which doesn't seem to match up with any of the Paint Colours.

i will have a look and post as soon as i can, the last 4 digits of your chassis no as well as the body code and year of your car do make it easier for me, the only problem i have is some of the info available to me only goes back as far as 2003, but i will try.

Thanks Potato Muncher- My car is a 2001. The body code on the vin plate states P965~PM81B. The last four digits of the chassis no are 1884. Just had a look in my handbook and it states Satin Silver.

Hope this helps you!

your code comes out as a ford, vw, or audi colour but they are all the same and your pm81b code is specific to nexa/ici paint. the vw/audi code is LB7Z which means you should be able to get some paint at any supplier but have a look at a colour chip first.
