Its my first time on a rolling road this Saturday.
Im just getting 3 power runs to see where i stand at the moment with my set up and to see the difference a little nitrous is making on my 450 Chimaera.

Any tips or words of advice will be appreciated thanks.

Take some ear defenders, or walk 200m up the road, it doesn't sound to bad when they rev the conkers off your engine then.
Seriously though, make sure all fluid levels are at max level including the diff and gearbox, check rear tyres for any minor cuts or bulges as they inflate them to 50psi to help stop the tyre wall from deforming during the power run and ask the operator to keep an eye on the temp gauge at all times
Apart from that, everything should be fine.....

Chedder

Edited to add; If you are running big power then fill the fuel tank up and keep plenty of weight in the boot to help stop wheel spin on the rollers.

Don't use a new set of tyres as the rolling roads do eat them up. Do a check on oil and coolant levels and make shure they use plenty of cooling ie huge fan blowing into front of car to keep things cool as things get toasty very quick.

Cheers,

I will fill everything up and have a load of junk in the boot.
Might put the Toyo R888s on the back as these have a good stiff sidewall.

Will also film the proceedings and stick the results on youtube (dbv8nos).

I guestimmate (if i dare) 250 bhp standard, over 300 with 1/2 the gas and who knows on the 3rd run???

Get ready for the excuses

Interestingly I was advised by one RR to put my road tyres on and not the R888's something to do with how sticky the trips get when warmed up.

Guess the T1Rs will be ok then. They only have a 35 series sidewall anyhoo.

That wont be a problem i reckon.
Empty the car of junk, run the tank under 1/4 full and lower your rear tyre pressures to 16 psi (or less).... sorted

Just checked the spec of your car Chedder.
I see timing slips with 13's, never mind under 15!

Are the tasmins wheel pcd the same as the Chim?
If so you could borrow my R888's unless you have sorted something similar already.

Hi Derek, already running 888's, but thanks for the offer.
Nitrous is not currently connected as I need to find a way of getting my Zex noz kit to work with the new Emerald ecu, either that or set up a WOT switch and relay to fire the solenoids, if I don't get it set up in time then anything under 15 secs will be good as the Taz is a bit heavier than a Chimaera
Let us know how you get on with the rolling road session, it would be interesting to compare figures.

I ran my Wizards kit off a pushbutton with 60 bhp jets when i ran my PB of 12.2 so anythings possible.
What is the kerb weight of a Tas? and how much power do you have?

All up weight without the driver last year was 1197 with 1/2 a tank of Vpower, power stats are 250hp and 308lbs of torque at the flywheel without the No2 (Feb 2009). Only useing 50hp jets as its a none Xbolted early 3.5 block and want to keep it in one piece until I start building a 4.6 unit.

Good info thanks for that, the proof of the pudding is in the eating as they say so will reserve judgement until after the event, never been drag racing before so it may take a few runs to get used to it and sharpen up my reaction times.

cant see why people opt for rollers when you can use a hub dyno. Surely the hub dyno is more accurate!
