Titanium, almost... Help please
Discussion
Just picked up the Tuscan from Body Shop's petrol stn., so no chance to ask the guy who did the job why he thinks I want a two-tone car!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!???????!!!!!!!!!!
The bonnet is browner than the rest of the car...

I had shown him the body code in the boot: P422-ML9B.
When I look at the codes on PH I see P422-MLL9B.
Was it missing a letter causing the variation in colour..?
What does the PPG029 in the listing stand for?
Obviously need it resprayed, so any help to get it right second time round appreciated.
cheers

Hi, bit of a long shot on this old post but did you get this sorted ?
My 2004 TVR Cerbera has the paint code on the data badge as P965/MLL9B & same in the hand book & colour is listed in the hand book as Titanium Metallic.
When my body shop puts P965 in it comes up with Crystal Topaz ( Blue ? ) but MLL9B shows as Titanium & TVR code 212 but no further reference ?
I was told when I bought the car the colour was Lotus Iced Titanium but the cross ref for this is P422-MLL9B ( Lotus Code B62 ) & the colour chip the body shop has for this colour is slightly darker.
Any help appreciated.
Phil

In a few previous threads on paint colours most people were directed to "Surface and Design":
http://www.surfaceanddesign.com/home.html
I believe they are the ex-factory body shop team and have proven helpful with previous enquiries on paint colours and how to match them correctly.

Hi, that's the issue I have, I was told my car was Iced Titanium although it's just listed as Titanium Metallic in the book both the data badge & hand book show the code I listed which does not match the Lotus Iced Titanium colour & the swatch the body shop had for this as slightly darker. The OP seemed to be having similar problems, I know it was a long shot but wondered if he had got sorted. Also Potatomuncher has been on here last month so I was hoping he might be able to help.
The body shop said they will spray some test swatches to ensure it matches but I was hoping to sort the riddle of the code on my car which I suspect is wrong.
Cheers.

Be aware that at some point the factory received American paint.
IIRC, American paint factories use ball-bearing races with bigger ball bearings, thus making the metal flake in metallic paints larger.
It is impossible to replicate with european paints. That's why my car had to have a full respray.
