As many will know I bought my T350 in October when after 1 month it has to go in for a bottom end rebuild (fortunately under warranty) and I finally got her back a week last Saturday. 2 days ago I misjudged the length of the nose and promptly she decided she wanted to hump the kerb, scratching the hell out the underside of the nose.
Then to top it all yesterday I find a screw in the outer edge of my 2000 mile Goodyear Eagle F1. Bugger, Damn & all that stuff.

Now desperately tring to find a single 235/40/18 F1 that is the old style. Don't want to have to replace 2 virtually brand new tyres if I can help it as most suppliers are stating they can only get the new asymetrical.

Rant over now I'm off to have a cry....

I know that you said 'unlucky' was your middle name, but you weren't joking were you?

You must have done something REALLY bad in a past life...

Are these the ones? http://ssl.delti.com/cgi-bin/rshop.pl?details=Orde...

Yeah - It is the GSD3. Mark, thanks for the link, about the only place in the country that has them in stock (I've been ringing round all morning).

BTW - Got your e-mail and will reply back later today, Saturday will be good though it may depend upon fitting of this tyre.

No worries Tony - hopefully no further disasters will beset you!

Cheers,

Someone cut me up and I ripped one of mine on the kirb.
I had to replace both fronts so I have now a spare.
I'll check the size tonight.

Thanks - that would have been perfect especially as mine have 7mm on at present but I've literally just ordered a new one and then saw this thread once payment had gone through.

Hi, I'm not sure what you mean by "outer edge", if this is the side-wall then ignore the following -

I had a puncture, "oh, great, have to replace two tyres" (do them in pairs), asked my indie to get some in and he said get a repair instead as the tyre hadn't done many miles.

I was surprised, potentially whizzing around at 180mph on a 'fixed' tyre did not fill me with confidence, but seeing the repair done made a difference... they core a hole then fill it with a mushroom shaped rubber plug; stalk end from the inside out, the whole thing is treated with a chemical which makes the two items 'fuse', not glued.

I've driven several thousand miles since done, and until I saw this post, I’d completely forgotten about it.

Apparently the fix is not for the 'cheap' option, just one that works and happens to be a lot lighter on the wallet.

Sorry to hear that I could not find any anywhere when I needed two new ones so ended up having to replace all 4 with the asymetric F1.
I have two like new fronts in the classifieds if any help.

Funnily enough I've been looking for exactly the same tyre today. I have now ordered one from MyTyres also, but whether they have any in stock is not clear. I should have phoned up but the Indian sounding automated switchboard put me right off.

I did phone and was assured that they do indeed have some in stock - though whether or not this means in India or UK I'm not too sure. We shall wait & see....

My only worry now is will I get the German made batch or the Chinese made batch, as apparently the Chinese ones were much inferior.

This isn't for the TVR though. Just a tintop.

If its too close to the side wall, they wont repair it.
I've had the repair done in the past but also been refused for the above reason.

I've always used "MyTyres" for all of my cars and have always found them the cheapest, and a very quick service.

No problems at all when I've been trying to get hold of normally out of stock tyres.

There are far unluckier people! At least you got your rebuild under warranty, the majority have to simply pay up the many £ 000's in cash. I'm not being nasty, but I wouldn't say the front-end scrape was really anything to do with luck either!

That said, welcome to the fray and hope you are enjoying your car, but chin up it could be worse!

I know what you're saying and yes I am lucky the rebuild was under warranty - though IMHO the car should never have been sold needing it.

Also the front end was my fault entirely but still bad luck on my part.

I know in the grand scheme of things it could be a lot worse I was just having a small rant!

As for the car I'm still unsure - since the rebuild I now have a very annoying top end rattle and odd idling speeds (hopefully just throttle bodies needing balancing) and I'd rather now take it somewhere I trust to get it looked at properly, which I am doing this weekend.

Now I'm not saying this is the case, but if the dealer did know about it, then they would be happier to retail out of the car and recommend the buyer claim under warranty for the repair. This means they are not out of pocket, and if they do the work then they probably make a small margin on the parts and labour. If they were to fix the car at cost to themselves before sale then this would cost more than double what I expect their margin to be on the vehicle, and this would clearly mean a heavy loss and not an option. They could have traded the car to another dealer sold as seen and that dealer would then be in the same position. This happens, but is not the way for the dealer to make friends in the trade. In my view, the sequence of events was the most acceptable for them, although clearly it has left a bit of a bad taste with you, and not surprisingly. However it is not wholly bad for you as you get a rebuilt Sp6, with further warranty on the repairs. This isn't an excuse just maybe the flip-side of the coin. I am not saying it is right that they did this btw wink
