TVRCC web site??

Anyone been looking at this? It is never updated and doesn't appear to have been fully launched- the links page hasn't materialised.
It was better before. Comments anyone?

given up going there ..... its dull, not user freindly and never has anything of interest. Most is out of date anyway. But then i suppose its all done by a volunteer? which is a shame cos we all like surfing at work!!! not that im not busy you understand.....mark

I posted a qestion here a few weeks ago concerning the TVRCC web site discussion forum - and links that don't work, but Ï got no replies. It sems that since the initial launch a few months ago, no one associated with the site bothers reading Gassing anymore.. Rich...

maybe it should be taken up by ted? can't believe the car club has no cash. what do they do with all the membership cash, advertising money from sprint, and possibly kickbacks from insurance companies?

don't belive that they don't have a few grand available to sort it out.

For what it's worth, I think there should be a link on the TVRCC site to a designated 'TVRCC members only' section of PH.

I might be wrong, but they seem to be trying to take on too much with the site, and also duplicating some of the excellent services (gassing) provided by PH.

I was asked some time ago if I'd be interested in taking on the TVRCC site. I don't have the time to do it and it would create a bit of a conflict of interests for me potentially.

As for a TVRCC only section within PH, I don't want to create any artificial divisions amongst the readership.

I'm not sure the club site needs a discussion forum really. The TVRCC mail list on Yahoogroups provides an extensive archive of every known problem known to TVR owners and is extremely active too. Why not just provide a link to the web version of that forum?

Having said all that, I know the effort required to keep a site fresh and whilst the TVRCC does have more resources than PH, I can at least focus on the PH website solely all day, every day.

the TVR car club web site is useless, the previous site was excellent compared to their new style. I dont think vixens and M's exist in the new improved style. The layout is boring an what about putting the history back on with lots of nice pictures of the cars?

Well, Sprint magazine is much improved, anyway - we've all noticed that. I wonder if concentrating on that has deverted attention away from the website. If so, I'm not that bothered, as the magazine is excellent. Give the TVRCC boys a bit of a break! They are all volunteers, after all.

I agree- the magazine is very good just now.
I would imagine the TVRCC has a higher than average (compared to say, the westlife fan club!) proportion of people who work in the IT industry.
Why don't they ask for volunteers to each maintain a section of the site- one for events, one for links, one for TVRs in print, one for news etc.
Share the workload out a bit, take the burden off the guy who runs it- i think he runs the magazine as well so its a lot to do for one person.
If that is the case he is right to focus on Sprint, but the web sight doesn't need to suffer

The new TVRCC website started off with high aims, there have been some issues with logons, user friendly icons etc but they have been trying to sort them out. There is a thread on there where Paul Connor is asking the members to support him in asking the committee to allocate a budget for proper site development - very few messages in support - 2 V8S owners at last count.

The club is generally trying to improve things, magazine, website, show attendance etc but it needs more volunteers to support it intstead of knocking what they have achieved - the magazine is a good example, people complain about the lack of articles but don't contribute any themselves.

As to whether it needs a forum, I'm not sure but many members felt that it did, I think however that it suffers from having some extremely good, established competition which it is unlikely to match.

As several of you have pointed out, the TVRCC is run by volunteers, and they are doing a bloody good job.

The site is one issue which Ted has metioned he doesn't have the time to be involved with, but as for the discussion forum, I still think this could tie in nicely with PH.

I hope my comments in no way belittle the huge achievements made by the club recently - Sprint etc. - and I would ask any member to think about what they might be able to do to help. Whether it be organising a region (not easy - me & another 'volunteer' just started the Staffordshire area), or just sending in material for publication.
