Just got back from looking at Chims at Peninsula.......
Richard was really helpful, and a mechanic was on hand to adjust the pedals to see if Mrs kdd could reach them. They popped out for a test drive, and how happy was I to spot her driving when the car returned
She said the pedals could do with being slightly closer, but that could be sorted with a Leven pedal set.
Talking of Leven pedals..... I seem to remember there being some discussion a while back about the legalities of stainless steel pedals for normal road use..... can anyone clarify this?
Well..... all we have to do now is sell the 306, and we'll be joining the club.......

Well the first one we looked at was not at Peninsula. I was not impressed with the car for the money being asked, the interior seemed tatty, and they simply didn't seem interested in selling us a car.
The second one, we didn't exactly look at, but it was the one that the mechanic adjusted for Lynn (Mrs kdd) to try. It was very nice, but a bit new, and therefore slightly too many of your pond newts.
The third one, was (aparently) new in, and was in the workshop being prepared...... really nice colour, a nice complementary interior, and the options we were looking for.....
Richard and the guys down there were really helpful.

didnt look under the bonnet but certainly noticed you looking at the chimera. we were trying to get the t350 started for us. bit quieter than would've liked but that all changes when run in!
So, is that the car for you then? and have you stopped thinking about them for one minute since?

Which Chim were we looking at when you spotted us? The silver one was more than we could afford......
Oh, and no. I've not stopped thinking about it for a second
edited to add: sat here reading through the bible trying to work out if 4 litre chims of 97/P age were serpentine. not that it matters, I'm just interested.....

As I say, the silver one was really nice, but too much. We looked at an ash green one that was in the workshop..... nice colour combination, nice interior, has PAS (required on our list) and A/C (a "would be nice").
The 306 books at about 3800 for trade in, but checking auto trader / pistonheads adverts suggests we could get more like 4500-5000 for it in a private sale. It's in really good condition, and has a FSH, but the mileage is slightly high.
Whilst the extra 700-1200 might not seem much, the chim we like is right at the top of our budget, and will require every last pound we can scrape together!

The stuff on their site suggests they are for road as well as track, and I assume they would not offer them for road use, or would warn people if they were illegal.....

yes, it will be serpentine, with the T5 box. 94/95 change over year, IIRC
Spoke to Richard this morning to check a couple of things.... will be calling later to stick a deposit on it.

(ok, ok, I know 24 hours is too short a time to be panicing about no buyer but the grin the test drive put on my face isn't gonna last forever without some more V8 help you know....) edited to add: just going insurance quote hunting.....

I was down there on Friday having a look around. There is certainly a good selection of Chims on the forecourt.
If you're going for the ash green one that I saw, then it looked a good one. Nice colour too.
I went there with an open mind on what to go for with my budget. I drove the V8S they have and that was nice. Now I have to decide whether to pursue one of those, or save another few grand for a 'facelift' Chim.
Hmm, I think of little else at the moment..

We prefer the facelifted look, but not enough to ignore the ash green one. Also, harder to find at dealers for the budget we set. Looks great. I'm led to believe the grille on pre-facelift cars can be removed (it's the grille that I'm unsure of, looks-wise), or, of course, there are some nice shiny replacements available on the market which would look nice against ash green.......

Don't blame you at all kdd. Get that deposit down and and then start the run of sleepless nights until you collect your new pride and joy.
I'm sooo jealous. It's going to be at least into the new year before I have all my funds together and can go out there and buy one!

Heart beating like a drum...... soooo exited. Just spoke to Richard, and gave the deposit
We'll be popping down again either this weekend or the following weekend to have another look over and have a fitting (sounds like buying shoes) for Lynn. We know she can drive it with the pedals adjusted, but she wasn't completly comfortable. She needed the pedals slightly closer, so we'll get the pedals adjusted on it as far as possible, and then if needed we can get some long Leven pedals shipped straight to Peninsula to fit for the day we pick it up. It, after all is Lynn's car, and she'll drive it most!

I've been like that for about a year -- jealous every time I read a "I'm just waiting to pick it up" thread.
