Is it me or are there CERTAIN (i emphasise the word certain and not all) dealers that totally piss you off....mentioning no names re slander, extortion etc etc
Whether it be their snobbishness, or their desperation to query your car, or just that they look at you as if you've crawled out of cheese?!

Ah yes. When I was buying my first TVR, I was looked up and down with disdain by more spotty boys in shiny suits than you can shake a stick at. None of them got anywhere near my money.
Silly boys - never make assumptions - people with money to spend don't always look like they've got money to spend.

Yep. Had that in a certain dealer weekend before last. That'll be why Peninsula (I assume naming when it's good is OK
) have my deposit......I bought my 1st TVR from a dealer, went back about 9 months later to part ex it for another nearly new TVR. By this time the dealership had changed hands, new owner wasn't interested in talking to me, just gave me minimal answers when pushed... was it the jeans & tshirt he didnt like or my age? Anyway I went elsewhere to another dealer and have since purchased 7 tvrs from the same dealer. So yes certain dealers are alot better than others and Rude Girl is spot on about people who have the money!!

totally agree. And even if you haven't got loads they should still give the lay-person the time of day (not literally, for all you pedantic people out there!)

I arrived at TMS in jeans and t-shirt in my old Chimaera one Sunday afternoon just for something to do and within twenty minutes I was out in their demo Tamora ... needless to say I bought one and found the sales guys there to be first class.
I think TVRs tend to sell themselves so there isn't that wretched hard sell, perhaps this can sometimes be misinterpreted as a lack of interest.

but I don't understand, you always look like a million dollars! Have to agree: turned up at a dealer in a hired Ford Focus and probably looking more like 18 than 24. Welcome wasn't "hello" but "have you brought your cheque book?". Got slightly better when they realised I at least knew what I was looking at, but not much. Won't be going back there, then...
My 'local' wouldn't allow me to have a test drive until I could show him the money. When we went along as arranged for our test drive, the salesman ignored us for 45 mins, then only addressed me and did not include my wife in the conversation - a bad move! 
He also said I could only take the car out on my own once he was satisfied I could 'handle the power'!
...so we had the test drive and bought our car elsewhere!

Whilst down in Paignton, I called into Alan Kerrs to look at the new Elise when it had just come out.
Was given the cold shoulder by the salesmen.
We were down there for the weekend, so I later rang up and said I would like a test drive. The salesman said their demo car was not available, I said I had just seen it. He asked me to pop back later in the week with the car I was going to p-ex. He would not let me have a test drive that weekend.
I was fuming
and asked to speak to the sales manager, he replied he was the sales manager!!!!!
On the way back home called into the Lotus dealer at Exeter had a test drive and placed an order.
Promptly rang Alan Kerrs to let them know they had just lost a sale - they went very quiet - PRATS!!!
Needless to say they are no longer Lotus dealers and have gone back to selling Motor Homes!!

That's at least 2 sales they've lost due to their attitude.

Well I accept your point in part, but I fail to see how being completely ignored (not even a 'hello') for 15 minutes can be misinterpreted as anything. Picking out the most senior looking chap and having all his colleagues snigger at him by walking up to him and saying 'I'll help you out here - what you need to say now is good afternoon madam, how may I help you?' sorted that out sharpish.
Also struggling to see how I misinterpreted 'oh love you don't want a Griff 500 - you wouldn't handle it, it's really quite a handful for a lady', or 'I think this might be a bit out of your budget' (without asking me what my budget was!!), or 'are you approving the colour before you give him the go ahead to buy it?', or trying to sell to my brother in law when he'd already told them twice that they were wasting their time because he already had a TVR and it was me that was buying. What can I say - I must be a master of misinterpretation!!!
Perhaps you were dealt with by Mr Agger at TMS? He sold me my Griff too. It was easy, he just sold me what I asked for when I asked for it
