Had an intermittent fault with my Chim for a couple of years now; usually at the end of a hard drive when the engine is nice and hot, it refuses to idle when stopped, and instead the revs drop right down and the engine cuts out. For the first time last week, it did it when it was b*stard cold as well. Mole Valley have crawled all over it, changing sensors etc, to little avail; the fault comes back at unpredictable times, but it definitely seems to be something to do with the temp gauge `telling' the engine to cut. Any ideas?

The temp sensor can't do that. Sounds like a fault somewhere in the system killing the engine. Could be ignition related and nothing to do with the ECU. Like a temp sensitive coil or ignition amp. Could be a duff ECU as well.
