Wife just passed her driving test...

Not yet. Your wife needs plenty of time to experience REAL driving and build her confidence. The test is only the beginning. You don't pass your bike test and get on a Suzuki GSX1000!. Let her get some serious road time first then build from there.
Enjoy,
Karen
Couldn't agree more. As a new driver you need time to get used to different driving situations. Trying to do this in a high performance car is just a mental idea! page3 said:
Just added her to my insurance. Got a long pause after the 'how long has she been driving?' question after I replied 'about 3 hours'.
Tesco wanted an extra 140 quid per year. I'm amazed. It's 'only' an S, but even so...
Had a similar experience with Chimaera 500 Tesco want an extra £94 for student girlfriend with one years no claims !!!
Couldn't agree more with the other 'lady' drivers. She needs to experience loads of different driving conditions before let out in the Tiv, expecially on her own. Once she gets the hang of it, there will be no stopping her! I have been driving the Chimaera 5.0 for many years now, and I still watch the road conditions carefully, but really enjoy driving it. I have been known to take on the men in some driving tests!! Ask Flasher if he is back reading Pistonheads!!!

It's an S: what power steering?
Same happened for me. Wife has been driving for several years, but I still wasn't overkeen for her to drive my toy, especially when you look at the pavement seeking alloys on 'her' SAAB.
Still, didn't want a row as she let me spend the savings, so she's insured - great at first, but she finds the car drives her, the lack of power steering and awful turning circle etc. etc. and prefers driving the SAAB where she feels more in control!
