Can I please get some help. I'm looking to get a TVR. My budget £12k max. The choice that I would make would be a cerbera a 4.2 at that price. However I have an issue in that the mrs doesnt like a coupe and prefers a Tuscan or Chim.
So the cars that I am looking at, at the moment are -
Cerbera - http://search.autotrader.co.uk/es-uk/www/cars/TVR/... - The interior isn't that bright in the flesh
Tuscan - http://search.autotrader.co.uk/es-uk/www/cars/TVR/... - The exterior colour isnt too bad in the flesh. This would be a stretch.
Chim - http://search.autotrader.co.uk/es-uk/www/cars/TVR+...
What I need to know is the rough annual costs of each of these, and what to try and look for when I go to view them. The idea is that whichever one is bought is kept for a long time and wouldnt simply be a short term toy.
Cheers

I bought a 'cheaper' Tuscan - it does need some titivating (paint chips, seat trim) and I mentally 'allowed' a fund for future expenses.
I have had no problems - just normal servicing and new suspension (which was my choice).
Big thing is brace yourself for it to be expensive then its a bonus if it is not.
If £12k is your max with no 'safety net' then I'm not sure your doing the right thing. Possibly consider a cheaper Griff/Chim/Cerb to give you your 'net'

The tuscan that I have posted a link to would be stretching and leaving me no reserve should something go wrong. So that along with the nagging doubts about a speed six engine would rule it out of the running (Garage claims that a rebuild has been done by "TVR")I have had no problems - just normal servicing and new suspension (which was my choice).

£12k should be a very nice Chimera in the current market I presume? And personally a top notch Chim is exactly what I'd be looking to buy if I was in a market for a road car too.
Can't claim to know anything about the T-cars, but from the outside I would suggest £12k would give you a bigger contingency fund with a V8. The only other thing I gleamed when I considered upgrading to one of the newer TVRs recently was that the Tuscan is regarded as somewhat trickier on the limit than the Chimeras if that's a consideration too.

For 12k I'd stick with a Chim (Or a Griff if you're blind).
A Tuscan at that money and with no safety net is liable to bankrupt you whilst a Cerbera on average costs twice as much to maintain as a dood RV8 engined car.
The Chim you point out IMHO is WAAAY overproced for an R plate. 12k would get you into one of the very last 450s with the faired in lights and cerb seats.
Take a look in my cars on my profile for an idea of running costs on my old Chim - detailed over 3 1/2 years of ownership and 32k miles.

exactly as he said, if you only have 12k do not get a tuscan or a cerb, they are very high maintainance cars at the best of times, and at your price range they are much more likely to bankrupt you. get a nice chim for about 10-11k and leave a couple of grand spare just in case. ain thing to look at is the condition of the chassis, especially the top of the front outriggers, as they rust whcih does lead to expensive body off repairs. If you are not familiar with the cars, get an expert inspector (i.e Rob Ingleby), they charge around 300 pounds but it is definately worth evry penny
