Neighbours...... again
Discussion
I live in a set of apartments in Leeds which is mostly young folk apart from a few old couples. Last week there was a residents meeting to sort out any problems.
Me, I work on the rigs so I'm only home about three months a year and only drive the car about three days a week when I'm home.
One old couple had only one problem..... 'that young man with the very loud car!!!!' They were saying this to my girlfriend but didn't know that me and her were living together.
What gives??? If it's that much of a problem can they not turn off their hearing aids or something? They have double glazing aswell so I can't believe that me driving past to the garage once in a blue moon is really a problem.

I wouldn't worry about it unless anyone actually took them serious
The other day our neighbours across the street mentioned to racegirl 'your husbands was a bit noisey the other day' I don't think she pointed out I'm no ones husband but the car was ticking over in the middle of the day on the drive for about 5 minutes, yesterday his 'wife' starts her Pug 106 DIESAL which sounds like a 10 year old Transit at 7am and then leaves it to defrost for 5 minutes while she finishes her breakfast

...yea, or they decide that they'll cut the grass at 8am on a Sunday morning. and we all know just how noisy a 2-stoke lawn mower is.
The problem is that some things are just considered the 'norm' and as such accepted.
Pathetic isn't it!

I tell you what is annoying, one of my neighbours kids have got this little electric jeep thingy that the kids drive up and down on the pavement all day. Now at 8 o'clock on a sunday morning with a hangover from hell the elctric whine as it trundles past for the 90th time is enough to make you contemplate battery confiscation or even just battery...............
Maybe it's the de-cat and sports pipes.....
I should really do a bit more popping and banging when i park up for the night instead of trying to trundle past quietly in 1st gear.
Even the kids at the local asylum (high school) have been reasonably friendly and stopped trying to brick the windows like the previous car.

I used to have a curfew on my mini when I was at Uni, as the first time I pulled up at my new house, half the street came out to see what the noise was about. But the neighbours were ok about it although their threat of:
"One of the guys down the road is a police officer didn't go down well."
"One of the guys down the road is a police officer didn't go down well."
I'm lucky then, all my neighbours always comment (in a nice way) on my car especially as I'm in a cul-de-sac and therefore the noise is probably louder...but then again they probably realise that I'm not the type that would give a toss if they complained. I never rev the car and if setting off early creep out in a higher gear.
Mind you if they did start, I would certainly have something to say about the lawn mower brigade
Alan.

My neighbours love the noise of my car! The boys & I live next to a house of four mid twenties' single girls. The first time I started the MG after they had moved in (balanced, blueprinted 4.3BV engine, with twin exhausts), two of them actually came running out and wanted to be taken for a ride in it (I could only fit one in at a time). They love housemate's '69 Porsche 911S too (amazing noise - like someone chucking an oil drum down a metal fire escape).
It's just a shame that the girls aren't terribly good looking. Ah well.

My neighbours are great.
They love the Cerb....
When Ray bought the car we had comments like...'he works so hard it's about time he treated himself for a change...'
Next door appears every time it starts up to stand and admire....won't go for a blast in it cos he says it will scare him shi to death!!!!
Only thing is....my best friend who lives six houses down asked me where I'd been the other night coming in a 3.30 in the morning!!!!!!!
Her bedroom is at the front of the house........
Oh dear......

.....//P// I wish my neighbours liked me or my cars. I can realte to all the bad neighbours above but not the good..
The chap over the road is a vindictive waste of gravity who's only reaction to mt cars has been the occassional roll of his eyes and the odd grumble...apparently "young people shouldnt have that much money" and "I must be selling drugs". His son is in jail and he has diabetes and heart disease (and he smokes so I have bugger all sympathy)...shame.
I hate jealousy and abhore whinging...he actually had the cheek to say to me "how would you like it if I had a ferrari and never went to work"...I said "I'd be happy for you"..... but pointed out that I did go to medical school for 5 years, have postgraduate qualifications and work 8 til late every day fr what little I have...rather than being a sponging waster with loud DIY tools that I use from 7 am every morning to make my house look worse.
fools.

Don't get me wrong, most of my neighbours love the car and one guy even hangs out his window when he hears me coming, the girls don't know what it is but they think it looks great anyway. It's just a couple of them and one of them i enjoy annoying anyway. My main point was that as I only use the car for about 8 weeks a year I didn't see how they could complain.
One of my neighbours gave me a bit of a ticking off a year or so back about the noise one Sunday am, my reply - Of course, I never noticed that you drive a diesel every day !
I think she had to think about it for a second or two before the penny dropped. She hasnt said anything since.

Hi Pauline, nearly as bad as us parking in Long Melford High Street the other night and realising it was nearly midnight & deathly silent. Liked the 54321 countdown out of Rays window, counting down to the dual startup of two Cerbs with sports exhausts
. Quick reverse and cross-over paths to head in opposite directions, definitely NOT pausing to look for admiring faces at house windows.
